Love the bike! I tried the search function, but to make sure, what`s the best fender eliminator for the XB12? And I`ve seen some fork and swingarm sliders, but they were like $50 each (times 4 it adds up)... any other cheaper alternative? Thanks guys, great forum! |

Lovely bike. . . pardon my noobiness but what the heck is that doohickey on the left side over the gearbox? it looks so fresh from the dealership, and yet I don't see it on any other new bike pics. . . |

That is a carbon canister. It is for the california emissions. Plug the line going to the intake and let the line coming from the fuel cell vent, and you can take it off. No issues. Done to mine. |

REALLY nice looking bike . Nice photo's too, especially the second one. Is that a standard muffler? The tip looks bigger, or is just I haven't looked closely at an XB for a while? |

Thanks guys! 07xb12ss: I`ll check on the rizoma tail + sliders, thank you! Lemonchili_x1: yes, that`s the stock muffler... the whole bike was 100% stock when these pics were taken... just coming home from the dealership Ghost_rider33: I was thinking about removing the carbon canister... thanks! Any other mods I should be looking into? Here is the list I have: - FE kit - remove stickers - remove passenger pegs - CRG bar end mirrors - fork/singarm sliders |

For both headlights, take off your flyscreen, follow the wires from your headlights to a wire harness. In the harness, switch the wire from the low beam with the wire from the unused socket between your headlights. Whats that sticker say on your airbox cover? |

Yeah I was going to look at '07/'08 used XBs, but when I saw the blacked out frame/sub-frame/forks, I had to go with the '09 So it looks like all fender eliminator kits out there require that you change the tail light housing huh? And the only replacement housings I could find are all grey... so basically I have to chop the housing myself? that sucks... anybody has another idea? Oh and I see the Jardine is popular... sounds great on youtube and is pretty cheap (around $300)... if anybody with direct experience with that slipon (and others) could chime in and confirm what exhausts are the best for the XB, it would be greatly appreciated I just ordered fork/swingarm sliders from DarkHorseMoto... Stealth black FTW! Found a swingarm stand (pitbull) for $129... is that about right? anything cheaper out there? Thanks again guys... (Message edited by wavex on August 19, 2008) |

Check out T-Rex stands. I think a full set of front and rear stands runs pretty cheap from them. The jardine sounds good, looks decent, but needs repacking after awhile. If it isnt repacked, it can start to rattle and break the rivets, opening the pipe up for even more damage. |

When you get a chance, could you post mileage figures? I can't be alone in wondering if there was an improvement in that area with the 09s. |

Heh I already asked him elsewhere, he said not 100% sure, but roughly around 45mpg, so looks like the 09s have the issue solved. |

Looks very nice. On the tail chop, you could always paint it black to match your 09. Or get one of the carbon replacements. |

Randomchaos: thanks, I sent t-rex a msg asking them to confirm which ones of their stands will work with a XB12... Hmmm... I wonder how many miles you can put on the Jardine before having to repack them... I don`t want to have to do that every 3 months. Motorico: the bike was filled up when I picked it up from the dealership... I put about 90 miles on it and stopped at the pump... I had to put around 2 gallons in to fill it back up. Now keep in mind the bike is brand new, so mpg should get better and better as the bikes gets broken in... on the other hand I`ll probably get worse mpg since I`ll be pushing it a bit more once the break in is over Oddball: thanks! I don`t like carbon, so I guess I`ll have to get the grey tail light enclosure and paint it... |

You sure are wasting no time with the mods! You can always get the center tail section powder coated, black is not hard to match. Chopping it yourself isn't hard at all, and a new one from the dealership is $118, if you want to save your stock one. |

Jeffroj: thanks! If they don`t come out with an '09 FE soon I think I`ll go with the PC option ... and yes, I like mods, but there's really not much to do on the XB... it's almost perfect as is. Posted a few pics of a couple of versions of my previous bike below Walrus2004: I found that thread earlier today and did the mod as soon as I got home thx though... I usually ride with my high beams on during the day, so it`s perfect! Previous bike was an FZ6... originally, it looked like this: Then it ended up like this: and then like this: (Message edited by wavex on August 20, 2008) |

Awesome-looking FZ6, and I think your Buell is the first 2009 on the forums. What were your thoughts on Glendale HD? And please keep us posted on fuel economy and other fueling issues since that seemed to be the biggest complaint with 2008s. |
