what's up guys. can one of you explain this to me like i'm 2? i need to change the primary/trans oil pretty bad. i'm overdue and 1-2 shifts are getting a little crappy. i ride an 01 m2. where do i drain the fluid from, and fill it to? should i due anything else while it's open? i'm mechanically inclined, just never done it before. thanks |

The drain plug is underneath the engine cases, pointing toward the ground. It is probably blocked by your exhaust. A lot of people fashion up a funnel out of cardboard to get the fluid to flow out the hole and around the exhaust, or you can just take the muffler off and have clear access. You fill the primary through the derby cover. 4 Torx bolts hold that on. You will need about 1 quart to re-fill it. Get some other bolts to replace the Torx bolts while you are at it. Do not torque the derby cover much - something like 7-11 in-lbs? Maybe someone can give you the exact torque value. You do not want to strip out the threads on your primary cover. Little things like these torque values is why you should get a service manual ASAP. It will more than pay for itself. |

Thanks Kilroy. I just changed it and went for a ride. Shifts better than ever now with the Syn3. I do have the manual...Somewhere |
