I need to remove my rear tire to get the tire changed but I don't have a tool unbolt the axle. Is it a special tool or a standard allen head wrench? Anyone know what size? Thanks | ||

You can use a large spark plug socket. Place a long extension into the socket and put the hex end of the socket into the axle. Works everytime. | ||

ha, i just removed mine like 30m ago without the special tool (7/8" allen head)! had 2 nuts that fit a 7/8" socket laying around the garage, a really long extension thru the axle, kind of balancing the nut in there so i could fit half of it into a socket, and turned it. remember the front is reverse thread. righty loosey and lefty tighty for the front! i took the other nut and put it into the socket, so when put on the nut that is balanced in there, it wouldnt fall into the socket as i was turning it. worked out great! BTW, i didnt sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. the spark plug socket idea is nice, i wiash i had one that fit, i only have 5/8" plug sockets (Message edited by simple on August 16, 2008) | ||

the tool is in the tool kit under your seat. Buell provides the tool with all its bikes. | ||

Get a coupler nut at the hardware store that fit a 7/8" socket. | ||

Yeah I would like to know which tool in my tool kit removes the axle? Can someone take a picture of it. I can't even find it in the service manual. I don't even think that tool could fit in my tool kit. | ||

Okay, just seen the link. There is no way that would fit under my seat. If I put the screwdriver in the wrong way I can't get my seat on. Sooooo, if every buell is suppose to come with an axle removal tool, and I've never seen one even though I bought mine off the showroom floor, shouldn't I be entitled to one free? | ||

If you bought the bike brand new Yes your intitled to a tool kit. But if it was used and no tool kit was in the bike when they recieved it then no your not intitled to a tool kit. You bought the bike AS IS. BUT talk to your Dealer where you bought the bike, they may give you one you never know. (Message edited by wantxbr on August 18, 2008) | ||

This is what is in the emergency toolkit - the rear axle tool is the hexagonal thing in the top right of the picture. The Uly service manual lists this item as No B-46279 7/8" Axle Wrench (Hex)  This is the size comparison between the standard emergency kit and the Buell accessory kit. The accessory kit doesn't have the axle tool included.  | ||

You can use a spark plug socket with a hex head instead of the'special tool' just insert the socket head first into the axle and but an extension bar into the socket and off you go. sorry didn't realise someone allready said this. (Message edited by surveyor on August 18, 2008) | ||

Man I got jipped, I did buy my bike new. I have problems putting my seat on without that tool in the pouch. Maybe thats why I didn't get one, somebody couldn't get the seat back on so they discarded the tool to make it fit, I'll bet thats what happened. | ||
