OK so it is hard to find a used XB-12R in this neck of the woods. I recently rode an 07 but the color and the modified nature of the bike was a turn off (and the price). So monday i am heading over to the seattle area to work and i am going to look over a bone stock '04. Is there anything to look for in this bike? It has 10K miles. The '07 I rode had a fan that did not come on like the others i have ridden which made me nervous... Any opinions would be appreciated! |

Ive got an '04 and its awesome. I just bought mine and it had 3k on it. Check the clutch/brake lever on the ends for abrasion. That'll tell you if its been dropped. Also, It never hurts to get it to a dealer before you buy for a full checkup.... worth EVERY penny in my book! |

Look for scrapes on the header, the pegs and the bottom back ends of the swing arm as well. Look at the front (you won't see the rear) cylinder exhaust header studs to make sure A) the nuts are on and the header is attached and B) that they aren't broken. Look the tires over as well. I'd also check the oil. I know somethings may seem piddly, but piddly with bikes adds up. I call mine Mrs. Franklin (Message edited by Buellinachinashop on August 14, 2008) |

Nice advice guys, I have owned 15 or so bikes now (all but 2 were used) but I know that every make and model has it's own idosyncracies and I want to be as objective as possible because I know that the prospect of a new (to me) bike gets me as excited as a little schoolgirl and I tend to overlook the little stuff. |

13,000 on mine. Good year. Of course, I may have made one or two mods to mine, nothing the matter with that, is there?

Hey Schmitty, Unfortunately with the 105th coming up I can't make the races at BHF this month. I am going to do the track day on the 20th just for the practice. If all goes well I should make the September races. That's the plan anyway. BudC |

Check to see how far down the brake pedal is adjusted. If it's really low you may be looking at a wheelie bike. Wheelies are par for the course with the Buells I suppose, but if the bike has been brought down hard from them you may have distressed parts. Read as cracked trees or ovaled frame where the stearing head bearings sit. |
