For my new to me 06 I bought the 07 seat to get the feet on the ground. Now the height is fine, but out of the more then 20 bikes I have owned this is the most painful seat I have had (OK the 550 Honda seat was pretty bad). Do these break In like a Corbin? The shape seems good, but after 45 minutes it feels like I am sitting on a couple of walnuts. In Motorcyclist long term review the seat was something they liked and in the MCCN three way review they complain about how bad the lower seat was compared to the original tall seat. Would a different foam help or do I need to eat more donuts? |

When i first got the 07 seat, it did suck. After a few days it felt alot better. I could only ride for about 40 minutes or so with the accessory low seat, even after having it for a few months. The 07 seat i rode from Georgia to NY on, no issues other than i kept needing to stop for gas! |

go back to the 06 standard seat height and get use to the height, I did and now believe that the standard 06 seat is the best motorcycle seat available. As for the height, it only is a problem when you stop, so keep riding! |

I took my '06 to a local upholster shop. They lowered the seat 1.5", installed a pro pad and removed 1" from the passenger area so I had some room. Works perfectly. |

Many sites/mags say the 06 Uly seat is the most comfortable seat they have sat on. |

yep - my '06 uly was stolen and we replaced it with a New '07 uly. the new replacement '07 seat is nasty - pillion is at a different angle too - my GF hated the 'o7. we ordered an '06 seat and it's perfect. wouldn't go back - but i'm 6'2 so have no height issues.. ken in NZ |

I have to admit that my 2008 seat isn't so comfortable as I was hoping. I'm thinking a retrofit 2006 is in order. I don't like the "bucket" that you HAVE to sit in. I want more of a continuous surface going back so I can move my butt around. I ant my ass back further so I can lean forward more on the highway like on my X1. I can still do long distances better with the X1! |

"I ant my ass back further so I can lean forward more on the highway like on my X1." Be aware that the lip at the back of the rider's area on the 06 is about 1 1/2" farther forward than on the 08. You will have to do some custom cutting on an 06 just to get the same room as on an 08. |

+1 on going back to the 06. I started out with the 07 and noticed I kept hanging the butt on the 'edge of the bucket' (out back). So after getting accustomed to the bike...I went back to the 06 seat...a little tippy toe was really not bad..just be careful of weirdly cambered stops at intersections. The seat is quite comfy, gets my head into some clean air and less obtrusive heat from the underseat heater....but that was just me YMMV good luck! The 07 seat makes my balls go to sleep. It's like a lightly padded 2x4 enema. I have the 06 low seat and love it. Either get used to the 06 standard seat or get an 06 low seat. |

I want to make the 07 seat work, I'm about 6' with a 32'' inseam, solo I could get use to the 06 seat but I rather have both feet on the ground and with the wife on back I really like having both feet on the ground.I have a bad knee left knee that sometimes just gives out so it is nice to have a some room to play with. Seats are always an issue with me anyway. The only stock seat that I never though of changing was the one on my 1997 BMW R1100RS that I had. Just work fine for me. |

Yes. Its a hair lower, has a mesh looking texture on the drivers portion of the seat, and feels a lot firmer. |

FtB, Might I suggest you avoid sitting of the boys In the long run you'll both be much happier -- just sayin'. Stock '06 seat is nearly perfect. |

I am sure I am going to want to try an 06 seat once my bike arrives just because I have had 2 re constructive surgeries on my knee and having it bent too much for too long really hurts. Can the 06 high seat be bought new still or do I need to look for a used one? |

Will the stock 06 seat fit a 2008XT? I don't mind the extra height. |

Some of you have just got weird arses. Granted the 07 isn't as comfortable as the 06 - but i think some of your petticoats must be bunched up or something. |

No, your Aussie arse simply isn't as refined. The 06 Low seat isn't cut as narrowly as the 07 seat and it's covered in gel. |

I went to a walgreens, and bought a large gel pack, (the kind you put in the freezer) for muscle strains. I paid $14.00 for the thing. After a 3 hour ride, I got it out of the bags, and sat on it.IF IT WERE A WOMAN, I WOULD HAVE MARRIED IT,it felt that good. just a cheap gel seat pad. |

I prefer the 06 normal seat for long rides. I do use the 07 seat around town and for shorter rides where I have to get on and off the bike a lot on uneven surfaces (damn 31" inseam). The 06 seat gives me more room to move around and a longer seat to peg distance. The only things I dislike about the 06 seat are the position of the seams and the exceptionally grippy fabric. I resolved both of those complaints with one of those ridiculous sheepskin pads from Alaska Leather. |

The seams in the 06 stock seat cut into my legs after a while and the fabric was like friggin' velcro to my 'Stitch pants. I swear on lively rides, I could swear something was gonna ignite. |
