Okay, so it took forever to get my copy. Iam so glad to have gotten a copy. If you havent already got it I suggest highly you do. Whitehorse has them. Went through Amazon and waited 3 months then, last week I cancelled the order. Whitehorse got it to me in 3 days. I have read cover to cover and I must say, truly impressed with this book. Court and Dave Gess have done a magnificent job with this book. Now I know why its been so hard to pin Court down. His energy and time must have been all consumed by this book. Court, if your out there, I love the book ! Can I send you a copy so you and Dave can sign it? Thanks much guys for an excellent read. |

Got notice from Amazon yesterday they didn't know when they could ship. Sounds like Whitehorse is the way to go. |

Mine is "Out For Delivery" I'll probably miss them and have to wait until tomorrow. I don't think UPS typically leaves packages. Mine was purchased through Amazon. |

When you're reading it, you can almost hear Court talking. It's really great. I'm sure you can hear Dave Gess too, but I'm not as familiar with his storytelling style. Whoever edited it really allowed the personality of the storytellers to remain intact. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the bits I've read. As soon as my husband is done, I'll be able to pick it up and read it, ya know, in order. ->ChelleM |

Bcordb3, good idea. How about asking them for me since I started this thread with the intent on getting the book signed. ( wait a minute, think I just asked them) |

It was a fun process and I'll tell you that Dave really came into his own . . . . Over the years I've been the blabber mouth and Dave has been the more deliberative "thinker" behind the scenes working out neat solutions to problems at Buell. During the process of writing the book, and I think it was the S-1 headlight sidebar (you all knew that Ducati and BMW were responsible for making the S-1 available right?) that I read one of his drafts and I was found myself laughing out loud, running through the house yelling "you have to read this". Print is funny stuff and, at least for me, works best when I try to write just like I talk. As a highly experienced talker. . . well it's just a matter of being able to write fast enough. Thankfully, you the fine taxpayers of this great country, paid a boatload of money for me to learn to type lightning fast when I was serving as the Congressional Liaison (read as "letter writer") for Commanding General J. C. Feagan USMC and during my 2 year stint with The White House. (DISCLAIMER: I am a United States Marine Corps veteran entitled to all benefits but have been asked whenever I refer to myself as a Marine on Badweb to point out that I WAS NEVER DEPLOYED OVERSEAS. . .there we got that done). Writing the book was a ball and the funniest part was that the very process of writing the book provided a host of NEW Buell stories itself (there is a "Dave Gess Gone Wild" tale begging to be told) and gave Dave and I, along with about 9 "Elves" (with apologies to the HR dept. at HD who have asked me not to use that term) a chance to reminisce about old times. By the way . . . there is a chance that if we can figure out a way to get Dave here that Dave and I may both be at the Liberty HD/Buell annual birthday party . . . . great place to pick up a book or get one signed. Fun stuff ! |

Yeah . . . but you aren't hampered with a peech inspediement that makes it tough for you to pronounce those. It's the reason I can never eat a Croissant . . . . if you try to say that and mess it up you look like an idiot. I'll never forget the first time someone contacted me and offered to PAY me to speak . . . .I thought I'd hit the lottery. In retrospect I should have billed them by the word.

Those little masked bandits stole food out of my ruck in Lejeune 1 too many times! P.S. I'm checking my mailbox EVERY DAY for this book. My wife ordered from Amazon for a Father's Day gift for me. I WANT MY FATHER'S DAY PRESENT! (Message edited by P_Squared on August 15, 2008) |

Mind boggling that someone would lash out like that, but I guess it happens. "Old breed. New breed. There's not a damn's worth of difference as long as it's the Marine breed." Yer always welcome at my table. (Message edited by P_Squared on August 15, 2008) |

"Thank you for that explanation. Mind boggling that someone would lash out like that, but I guess it happens." I have a USS Alabama hat with my name on it, my uncle was XO of the boat for many years and gave me an official hat with when he retired. I get asked alot about my service on the Alabama and when I reply that the hat was a gift and I wasn't on it, I get lambasted for it. Its a friggin hat, but I understand where guys who served are coming from and let it go. The mood changes a bit when I explain where I got it. I wish I could wear a hat that said..."I served my country in the war on drugs", but that's alot to get embroidered on a cap. |

Just a cultural differences observation: Respect and all that - but down here nobody really cares if you have been in the military or not. |

I got mine today too from Amazon. I was close to canceling the order and going elsewhere, but they finally came through. Thanks as well for getting a mention in the book! My Bonneville record is listed in the chart. I don't even mind my name being spelled wrong. Jeff Bailey |

Mine finally arrived on Wednesday. I was starting to feel sorry that I hadn't picked up my copy directly from Court & Dave at Homecoming, but I thought the Amazon order was due to ship at the same time. Very cool book. I'm happy to finally get to read the early history. Now that I have it, I'm reminded of the mid 90's when Court and Erik rode a couple of S2's to Uke's in Kenosha, and they did side-by-side stoppies right before the driveway entrance to the parking lot. Too funny. I guess I have "stories" too... |

Surely you have mistaken us for some unruly, irresponsible pair . . . . In fact, there were SEVERAL most interesting tales connected with that very ride including:
- the "getting Erik out of the building" story.
- The "Courts sees God on Hwy 120" story.
- The "Erik teaches how to properly merge onto the interstate" story"
- And finally . . .the Court does something stupid with a showroom pristine RR-1200 with the old stock Dunlops by sliding it sideways down the street and convincing a crowd watching in awe that it was intentional" story.
Nah . . couldn't have been us.
