Hey Aaron,

I'd be all for working with the basic size and shape as is. I'd just tweak it for sound, breathing, and the spout re-direct. I'm curious what they were thinking when they exited the exhaust right onto the rear disk??? You know that picture of Neil Mckenzie riding a wheelie at Barber? It seems that exhaust's spouts were actually offset, which, is different from the production bikes. I'm assuming that was a pre-production machine??? Even so, the spouts should turn out a bit, at least in my opinion.

If (and I know it's a big if) any "blow-by" made it's way onto that disk, there goes any chance of using that brake effectively. I'm sure most would ask why I bother to even use my rear brake. The answer is: because I can! (assuming it's NOT well-oiled!

Ride safe, Tracy

I have two, very minor quibbles with the exhaust tips.

The first is the dirt and grime that turned the blue back wheel black.
At 5000+ ft elevation, Loretta is more prone to running rich than lean.

The other, more noticeable when it's cold outside, is H2O condensing on the rotor.
If the ambient's below 50˚F, you have to drag the rear brake when you start off and dry it off before it's useable.

I would love one of those cans like in the "wheelie" pic.

Hey Zack,

I'm with ya brother! My back wheel has a coating of carbon on it just about every time I ride. Ask me how I know that?

It's because I wipe this bike down more frequently than I wipe my own backside! (How'd that image grab you?)

Can't help it, she's awfully pretty when she's clean! Besides, I can't very well take our iconic rocketship out into the world without a good polishing, can I?

That would be just be WRONG!!!

Later, Tracy

The Bike is loud, yes. It sounds awesome. I like the volume, some people say it is too loud, some people don't. its all personal preferance. You can change the volume of the pipe by adjusting the back pressure valve on the end of the can. mine is wide open all the time : D

I believe I had read that the 25r Drummer will not be based on the stock unit...why is that? Seems like there could be some cost savings there by not having to fab the whole unit.

All the parts for the first Drummer prototypes will be in house next week. Then they have to be assembled and the design tested. The design is based on our SS series and is not a conversion. It will be all stainless steel.

Hey Fresnobuell,

+1 on that! I think it lends BIG TIME to the stealthier look of this bike. I agree it should be all stainless underneath though. It's (almost) a shame to cover the stainless up, but, would sure look great!

HR1 is supposed to send me pictures in the next few days.

I was told that the pipe will not effect lean angle if installed correctly. And that the system is pretty loud. The guy said that it's not as loud as a harley with open pipes. I have really came to like this exhaust so I hope the pictures look good.

On a Kawasaki board someone had installed their system on a zx10 where it was underneath like buell. He had to battle to return it after it was dragging in corners. Freeze framing the vid (0:25) i wonder if it's going to make contact about the time the pegs will.

"And that the system is pretty loud. The guy said that it's not as loud as a harley with open pipes."

So it's at probable hearing damage/annoy many level but not the bleeding from the ears broken eardrum straight pipe level.

I agree with you 100%. But I absolutely love the sound of this one.

I have been working on this header back system and am somewhat pleased so far with my progress. I was getting tired waiting for someone in the muffler business to give me what I wanted, i.e. turbo muffler, completely under the engine with a turnout exit. Far from completed but so far so good. Turbo muffler with 2 1/4 inlet and outlet and I'm using a "www.carchemistry.com" type insert of my own make to aid in tuning and to add some back pressure to enhance the mid range and not detract from the top end much. Some judicious hot wrenching to allow the muffler to fit up tightly under the engine as seen in the photo. Performance so far is excellent by seat of the pants dyno. Rear wheel dyno forthcoming when I find one close in my area. Sound is exactly what I was looking for, "not too loud" but with a nice rumble. I'll download a sound clip when finished; minor polishing and painting with VHT as it will be mostly hidden behind my Catalyst lowers. Header wrap will also be used for heat retention/insulation.

I still really agree that its awful hard to best the stocker but this has been a fun project and I'm only out about $75.00 so far, for the muffler and tubing. About 20 hours into it also but MY labor is cheap. If I do not like it for any reason the stocker will be back on again. Here is hoping for a successful conclusion to my project. Bob

Hey Bob,

Nice job on the exhaust! I can sure picture where you're going with that in an all-black scheme.

Hey Aaron,
+1! TOTALLY AGREE with that call! I'd try to be the first one standing in line at their front door on production day if they'd keep it to the stock unit's dimensions (+/-).....

I've noticed that just about all of the exhaust setups have a turn out or turn up tip......

are we opposed to the turn down tips?

Bob....I'd be especially interested in a black version of yours with a 45 degree turn down/put tip

Just my opinion, none of them look good, it is either GP style that looks like everyone else, or hey look I mounted a truck muffler to my Buell... I did say it was an opinion, the stock muffler is good and I am sure with a little bit of internal tweaking and double stainless side outlets from the XB muffler, this muffler would suit all of our needs...

Some artist over in Europe somewhere, did some photo(chopping) on what he thought the 09 would look like. As far as I am concerned he is spot on with the exhaust, I would pay for that can, (please take no offense if you are into the GP style or truck mufflers...LOL...) it would be perfect for the 1125R...

V/R,
Nick
