Ross (Pilot) I have two inquiries out to get someone to collect you at the SLC airport tomorrow and to put you up for the night. I've not heard back yet. If I do, I shall post word here and e-mail you. If not, I'd suggest finding a room near the SLC airport (should be fairly inexpensive) and giving me a call on my cell phone at about 10:30AM local time on Wednesday. I arrive at 10:00AM and am going to head from the airport to go pick up vehicles and Australian! Court |

Jims bike was first up on the dyno this morning. Those pipes we made up yesterday are bloody loud. You could hear them in England. Well I was on the phone at the time At this moment, Jims hitting around 116 and he's smiling. No broken exhaust brackets (yet) and his S2 Hybrid is 'ready to go'. The Sportster boys have a little more to do with their 'hacks', but otherwise, I think the tuning shop is all but done. Everyone is in good spirits and as far as I'm aware there are no disasters to report, with the exeption of the sleeping routine that is. What kinda country you got here ? Everyone goes to bed bloody early Only a woman can make me do that ............... You listening sexy babe in Hull xx Rocket |

Court - I arrive in SLC at 12:56 PM Wednesday, and have a rental car waiting for me. Jim Snyder (jssport) and I are riding to Bendover together, and we'll probably have room for at least two more, so let me know if anyone else needs a ride. X1- I second what you said. I should have taken off the entire week and just hopped on the S2 for the ride. Neverending responsibilities at work, the divorce and move, etc. have pretty much trashed my year, so I'm looking forward to some "fun" work at Bonneville. And I'm not telling my grandkids, if I ever have any, anything :-) David |

Rain on the SALT !!! From SaltFlats.com: Salt Condition Update 9/15/02 Many of you have been inquiring about the condition of the salt flats. I have been unable to get accurate, first hand information on how much water was left from the storms of Sept 7 & 8. I will be going out to the salt Monday 9/16/02 myself. I will post my firsthand report on the conditions here by 6:00 P.M. Mountian time Monday evening. The weather here in Salt Lake has been dry, breezy and in the low 90's, ideal weather for drying the course, and I remain optimistic that we will have a good race course for runs beginning Friday, Sept. 20. Don't base your travel plans on rumor!! Check here Monday evening for the latest firsthand information. Dan Wright ALSO - SEVERE THUNDERSTROMS in the area right now. From the Weasle Service: Scattered thunderstorms will move across western Juab and western Tooele counties through 1200 noon MDT. The storms will pass over Interstate 80 near Wendover from 1025 am to 1100 am MDT. Expect wind gusts near 50 mph near the storms along with brief heavy rain. Here's hoping it all dries out in time. |

Best wishes & good luck to Team Elves. I just rec'd my Elves tee shirt and patches, now the SO has some sewing to do... I was secretly planning a trip to the Salt to cheer the Elves and Sportster guys on, but it isn't going to work out this year. Meanwhile, those of you at the Salt last year may remember Timbo Horton - he set a LSR last year on Dale's Sportster. He got T-boned a week or so ago - compound fracture of his right leg, after surgery involving rods and pins he is now recuperating at home. His Cafe'd Sportster is totaled. I am sure he was planning on attending as well, but now will be unable to do so. Have Dale set a new record for Timbo, eh? Good luck and safe riding to all. Jim in Santa Barbara |

Calling John in Scotland: Your TEAM ELVES jersey is on the way. I tossed in a copy of the 9-11-02 New York Post (bought a stack of them) so you could get a feel for what's happening in New York. We wish you were here. Court |

I ordered a "Tiny Tach" last week. Told them, i needed it by the start of THIS week, asked them to ship it 2nd day air (this was on Thursday). When I hadnt gotten any tracking number back from them by this morning, I called. Them:"oh, yes, I have that order right here. Our tech is building that tach for you, should be done by the end of the week." Me:"uhhhh, are you fucking stupid or what? dont you recall me telling you that I needed that tach no later than Tuesday, the 17th? AND that I asked for it to be shipped 2nd day air?" Them: "oh yes, I have it right here, 'ship blue label ups'." Me:"and you said it would be here by Tuesday.." Them:...silence.... Me:...screaming....foul language.... Soooooo, the upshot is, I need a tach for the Triumph. Anyone have one to spare? I need an electronic tach for a thumper. I will return it after Bonneville. I'll pay for shipping both ways. Let me know. |

We wrapped up FMJ's bike today ... here's a pic and the result ... Ignore the choppiness in the mid range. That's the typical drag pipe/overlap induced reversion. It can be cleaned up with a Thunderjet kit, but it's not really important for this kind of racing, you go through it once and never again. That's a good little bit of power he has, we're hopeful there's a record in his future. This is Crim's bike, with Art's 100" motor. It took over the dyno when we got done with Jim's bike. They made about 150hp. About mid-day, Steve Prastchler rode in. He started out on his new Firebolt in Atlanta, 1650 some miles. He got a bug on the bike. Maybe 2. |

So much for me riding the furthest to join in. Ow well, it'll still be about 2100 miles by way of Vegas. Got a couple a "must sees" along the way, a petrified forest, a 3000 meter meteor crater and the Hoover dam. I'll tell ya, nature simply makes life worth living. That bike of FMJ's looks great. The tail looks so much better than a stock S2. Hopefully he won't have to hachsaw his front fender to pass tech. I thought there would be much more power than 121 though. Is it not a 1650 cc? I also thought he was going to run NOS. Are my expectations too high or am I misinformed on his intentions? |
