And at *really* high speeds, HP becomes virtually irrelevant (relative to aerodynamics). |

I also agree with that Blake, out of all the bikes I have ridden at "higher" speeds this one seems to get me the "most" out of the wind, its actually more comfortable at higher speeds... |

I'm confused about "track days". I thought they were not a race and were for learning? |

If your referring to me, Tony's Track Days ARE about learning, and by learning... I "learned" that I was having an easier time passing in the "passing zones" given to the riders, though shorter than many other tracks, b/c of the great torque advantage I had over many of the Inline 4's and even some of the twins there. Also, on the back straight people don't "race" per se, but do try to beat other bikes down to turn 1 in order to have a clear track for 1, 1a, 2, and hopefully 3, 4, 5, & 6. -Nick |

>If an 1125 outpulls a gsxr 1000 on a long straight that suzuki has some problems >Oh, you must be talking "trackday racing" then. >I'm confused about "track days". I thought they were not a race and were for learning? What is your point? If an R1 has the throttle pinned, and I pass him, I'm not actually faster unless someone also has a timer going and there's money on the line? |

My point is a track day pass may mean nothing. Track days are for learning, not racing. Track days are not racing. |

My point is a track day pass may mean nothing. Track days are for learning, not racing. Track days are not racing. In general you are probably correct in MOST circumstances, but like almost everything, you cannot generalize. |

I read here about that race and it sounds impressive i admit. Are you gonna post the round 2 results? |

You're still here? Your theory was "If an 1125 outpulls a gsxr 1000 on a long straight that suzuki has some problems" which you later qualified to "racing" I posted results of an 1125R finishing ahead of GSXR. Admittedly, I don't know if he passed any on a straight or if all the GSXRs had problems. My question would be : What is your point? Ever ride a 1125R? against a GSXR? Ever get closer to one than a magazine review? No_rice says he has "out pulled" a gsxr and you jump in and call him a liar for no apparent reason. Then qualify by making a comment about "track days" that didn't make a lot of sense. Again, what is your point? No_rice isn't saying he beat every GSXRs ever made in a drag race, dyno pull and at Bonneville in the same day, he says he and a buddy did roll-ons and the 1125R would "barely" "out pull" the 1000. |

"My point is a track day pass may mean nothing. Track days are for learning, not racing. Track days are not racing." Very apparent that you don't do many trackdays in the advanced class. When me and my buddies are doing trackdays, you can be damn sure we are racing. Of course we all race with Wera too but still......... |

Another newbie-troll who cannot stand it that a Buell is outperforming his mythologically superior IL4 repli-racers. Tim is no liar. He's about as self assured and comfortable in his own skin, what's left of it , as a man can get. |

You can not be racing, and still need to pass in the straights. For better or worse, lots of people on the track won't just "let you by" even though they have been holding you up for the whole lap. |

+1 I had many laps where we would hit one of the straights and the slower riders would go wot to stay in front of us, and it WAS a drag race to the next corner in order to get some clear laps in. Regardless of racing or not, sometimes EGOS are more dangerous. -nick |

Anyone who doesn't go WOT in the straights is, ... , well, ... ... you finish the sentence. |

hmmm, track days are for learning..however, LEARNING TO GO AS FAST AS YOU CAN ....in other words, WOT on the throttle is what you're supposed to do on the straights...DUH |

I can't help but dog pile on this thread. In particular - the comparison between the GSXR 1000 and the 1125R. I posted a few months ago about a 3 day "raise hell" excursion with some of my fellow sport riders. One of my buddies rides a GSXR - and is quite outspoken. In the past, I rode my Firebolt with those guys. And - as expected, I was quite slow. Now - this isn't track time - this is plain and simple riding too fast on rural roads (not recommended for all the obvious legal reasons). I BELIEVE he and I are of equal skills (he would argue he has more skill). Whatever the case, on the 1125R I kicked his butt in any kind of race we could put together. We always bet $1 (standard bet in our group). Oh - and looser signs the bill with a short description of what they lost doing. In 10 different "tests" (from drag race to fixed loop race) - I dominated him. I have 10 one dollar bills to prove it. On paper - the GSXR puts out more power - but in how a rider (in particular, a street rider) uses that power - Buell 1125R gets a serious nod. It won't disappoint me if this bike doesn't do well racing professionally. Racing - it is a business and has very different requirements than riding on the streets. I just know that as a street rider, the 1125R baked a GSXR 1000, R1, and KTM R8. I didn't dominate the 1098 - that one was pretty close. But the owner of the 1098 has less skill and for the right reasons was not as competitive. For me - based on this ride (ok - and others less organized) - the 1125R is the fastest "streetable" bike for the largest part of the population that rides. I have only done one track day on the 1125R (an Inside Pass last September). I was scared to death - of my lack of track skills and of the bike. Of COURSE I bought one. |
