As far as tracking down supervisors or anything like that, complaints about ticket validity are not handled by the department...they will refer you to the court. However, if you feel the officer's actions were inappropriate (ie, foul language, discourteous etc.) call up the office and speak to a supervisor.... Just to let you know how things work in the real world, you DO call the supervisor. Do you know what his (our) solution was?: He wrote the court and told them that the officer had written the ticket to the wrong person. 'da truth, 'da whole truth, and nuttin' but the truth... |

NO offense, Hwyranger. I know that you are trying to make a living like the rest of us and aren't responsible for making up some of this idiotic laws we ALL have to deal with....I appreciate your information and insight on these matters. |

sounds like you got a supervisor who knows bikes and understood the problem... in the real world (where I work) supervisors won't do that. You got in touch with the exception to the rule. Ticket validity issues (on moving violations usually) won't be addressed by the department. You had a mechanical violation which you were able to show was written in error...and you got a good supervisor on the line....anyways, I am glad it worked out for you. I would still encourage you to continue riding with your red windscreen if that is what you want to do.. |

Yeah, I'm glad he lied to the courts on my (his department's) behalf. I ride everyday. 40 miles or more. I don't need the hassle-factor of getting pointed at by motorcycle CHPs from across the freeway (when I am doing the speed limit with a red windscreen), getting pulled over three times in two months with two verbal warnings and one citation for NOTHING MORE THAN A STOCK BIKE. This one's just for fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpuIbiOf9Dg&feature =related Good luck in Cali, I've said my peace on this issue. |

Hi Hwyranger, I have a LOT of respect for what you guys do, ESPECIALLY out your way! I use to live out in that general neck of the woods as a kid. (Crestline, and use to drive back and forth through there to the San Fernando Valley frequently) This reminded me of a story from my early Air Force days (retired now) when I was home on leave with a new car I had just picked up that day at the port in Long Beach, and was coming down the Hollywood Freeway (basically) doing the speed limit. (REALLY!) A VERY young "chippy" came out from behind a billboard sign and shot across three lanes of busy traffic to pull me over while cars were driving past me on both sides at the speed of sound! I didn't understand why he was wasting his time on me??? Anyway, he wrote me a ticket for going 59 in a 55 zone, and then proceeded to argue with me that my license was long expired and threfore, no longer valid. I tried to explain to him that it was still good till after so many months once you get out of the military, but he wouldn't listen to reason. When I got to the DMV the next day, the lady behind the counter said: "what the hell are you doing here", you don't need a renewal of your license yet"??? I wasn't real happy all the way around....... The moral of this story is that I do respect what you guys do, day in and day out! I also recognize that you guys can and do make mistakes like any other human being. Still, nice to know you're around when the "STUFF" hits the fan, and I support you! Keep it real, and stay safe on your police rocket...... Tracy |

The motorshop on e-bay is now backordered for blue windscreens like everybody else. Newest shipments in early to mid-September. If anyone sees one sooner, please let me know. |

Mad- Looks sweet! I'd love to have a mirrored one but will probably switch out the blue one with mirrored as soon as somebody gets off the pot and makes one. I checked e-bay and there is a different dealer. I asked him if he actually has one in stock and await a reply. Tx. |

Hmm, Matt I worded the Kick-ash the same day you did from the same eBay seller. Mine still hasn't shipped. Turns out they don't actually have them in stock, but rather are having them dropped shipped from HD. HD is telling him next shipments will not be till after the 15th. No big deal, I'm in no rush, just thought folks might like to know. |

HwyRanger, I had a scary run in with a motor Chippie on my bike on the 405/710 a few months back, I thought he was going to kill me when he forced me (without lights) from the car pool lane to the shoulder across lanes of traffic going 55mph, I was outraged and he ended up just giving me a warning, but damn if his tactics weren't the worst I have ever seen. I can only imagine if he would have caused an accident what I would have been blamed for... And I am not a punk (and I am an academy graduate and former local PD civilian, just decided not to go that route), but the way he pulled me over he treated me like I was. And I am always in full gear and try to watch my speed on my commute. The incident was certainly NOT appreciated. One thing I have always wondered, why don't Chippies EVER wave to other riders. I have buddies who are on motors for GGPD and Irvine and they wave. And I always wave at motors because I know how dangerous that job is and I appreciate the guys who saddle up every day. Do you happen to know a CHP dispatcher - Steve Fulton? Anyway, be safe out there, hope don't pop the Kick Ash CityX with the Trans Red wheels and CTY HERO plate. --Sean |

Sean, I think it's your cool red rims. Nothing says "arrest me" quite like red... I propose that we start a dedicated forum (like Court's) featuring Tom, where we can post our police-related questions, gripes, curiosities (e.g., Are radar detectors really worth it? Does this bike make my butt look fast/punk?) and (most importantly!) detailed descriptions of ourselves... that is, if Tom doesn't mind. Takis (Message edited by Pariah on August 09, 2008) |

why don't Chippies EVER wave to other riders. I wave to all riders who wave at me. (You can't expect me to wave at just ANY rider...wouldn't look to good if a CHiP waves at a Hells Angel right) But in general, the motors in my office will wave to any ridr who gives the "two finger wave" to us. I can't bad mouth what the other motor did without seeing the circs...but it doesn't sound like something I would do. Stay safe out there Sean, BTW...if I see a fellow Bueller out on the road, I WAVE REGARDLESS of whether he waves to me or not. Fellow Buellers are a special breed. |

Anyone have more pics of these installed? Madxcat, is yours kick ash or hero blue? In some of the pics, I think I see a blue tint. In others it looks strictly gray. My eyes may be waiting on a second cup of coffee... |
