Today I dropped my bike at Barnett Harley Davidson/buell dealer for a list of repairs needed. The service adviser told me there was a recall on the headlamp. Has anyone heard of it? Anyway, my list is:

-Front suspension clank when compressed.
-Instrument cluster developing "stains" on the back light display.
-Both rear signal lights not working.
-Brake fluid leaking from clutch weep hole.
-5th gear recall.

I'll update as soon as I have an answer from the service department.

Must be mistaking the Firebolt headlamp recall.

I thought the same thing. I can imagine sitting on a new bike in the dealer and it falling over, knocking all of the 20,000 harleys over also. always my fear...rex

I have had the 5th gear recall, the clutch weeping problem and a turn signal go out on mine.

In addition to that I had an O2 sensor replaced and the ECM update. This has translated to 4 trips to the dealer but in each case I worked with the dealer (pre-ordered parts) so they could do the work while I waited.

The bike has been at the dealer's for an accumulated 8 hours on 4 different occasions.

My point is when working with the dealer so they can prearrange the parts order they can get you in and out pretty quickly and reducing your down time.

I went a different route with the turn signals. I replaced them with after market mini-LEDs. Turns out that the stock ones have a resistor built in to simulate a bulb load so when you replace them with a mini LED you either have to get a LED capable flasher relay or put a 20 OHM resistor in-line.

Post up your dealer's responses. I have each and every one of these issues exactly

Hey Jdugger,

I have the battery charging/drain issue if it sits for a few days, as well as the 3500-4000 rpm stumble/lean condition (although I think it's getting a little better. (if that's possible?) and, I also had a problem with the mirrors folding back at speed. (I just drilled out the pins, and added bolts with locking hardware) No weep hole leaks yet, and no fuel boiling issues to my knowledge, or the frame getting too hot for my legs, etc., although, I probably live in a cooler climate than most. No clanking front end either.....

Last is the 5th gear recall, so I should be golden till the next problem creeps up!

Did I mention that I LOVE my problem child?

later, Tracy

Yes Tracy, it is possible it's getting better. Mine cleared right up at $2100 miles.

I've had the battery go dead once, then started putting it on the Tender.

5th gear recall.

It gets warm on the warm days. I just try to avoid stopping as much as possible. : ) I have some of the insulation coming from American Sport Bike (along with a new rear stand). Hopefully that will help when I can't keep it moving.

My instrument cluster has some weird clouding on the lens. Looks like something corrosive dripped on it and ran down but I don't remember ever seeing anything on it, now I wonder if it was there when new and I just didn't notice.

My front suspension is good. Tested by a HPT track day.

Can you post a pic of the gauge cluster?

My instrument cluster has had the same thing since it was new. It's like a light haze at the bottom about an inch square. I believe it's on the inside since I couldn't feel it and Plexus didn't remove it.
I figure I'll add it to the list.

Spoke today with my service adviser and guess what? They found that the engine has an "abnormal" sound. That were his words. So they are calling Buell to get authorization to open the engine!!
I also noticed a clicking sound when accelerating but thought it was normal. I'm kind of worried. First, I'm not to confident that they have messed with the internals of that engine in particular and second, I'm probably out of ride time for the rest of the season.

Luis, do you have enough confidence in your dealer that you think they would know the difference in our 1125 normal engine noises(kinda Ducati like) and what they think is normal (like a standard HD V-twin)? I believe I would want a second opinion from someone who surely knows these engines. It took me a while to be comfortable with mine. Bob

that's the only Buell dealer in town. I would have to ride to another city just to find out if their service department is knowledgeable enough. I don't like the idea of my engine to be opened but I feel like I don't have much choice. If I tell my dealer not to touch the engine yet and something happens to it down the line, I fear they won't warranty me engine anymore.

haha, I totally thought you'd laid down your bike at the dealer too.

Keep us posted on the updates : )

Heron. Get the 1125, you won't regret it. I had the charging issue once, a grounding issue, 5th gear recall done, and I still have the clutch weep hole weeping but I love this bike.
