I was riding my M2 thru Arizona today from Cottonwood up thru Happy Jack, Mormon lake, etc. I passed a lot of well graded dirt roads. Nothing hard core, have a husky for that. My m2 is not gifted with a soft suspension or easy belt changes .. just pondering it... thanks | ||

I just road my scg 15 miles on dirt and gravel roads. It was kinda fun actually, sorta dirtbike-ish. I'm sure it's nothing the Ulys, but it worked anyway. 'Cept now it's dirty, Cityxslicker would be proud | ||

you have an inch more clearance than I do, two inches in length and more travel. Had they had the TT when I bought, that would be my bike. The TT's will do fine, just keep at least the Scorps on there, if you are running more off road, then switch to the MT-60s. Off pavement is it, no cops, no traffic, no stop lights, no speed limits. If you are riding out of zone more, remember to watch your gas level (I pack a small MS tube of gas when off trail)And for cripes sake, you will need some decent running lights if you are off grid past sunset. they're fun, but too heavy, too low and more steering would be helpful. You can do a lot with the TT, but for the real deal a dirt bike is the way to go. Tires are also a limiting factor for on the dirt fun... I'm not saying you can't hit the dirt, of course you can, I'm just saying remember that you're not riding an all out dirtbike. Keep a tire plug kit handy for a flat. Maybe someone else can advise us about how to inflate said flat tire.... | ||

The TT's running Pikes Peak this year had racing rain tires...they did pretty well on the well graded dust on the mountain....     Also a '97 S1 (I think)....   | ||

It tackles potholes in those dirt and gravel roads pretty good, too. It's no dirtbike...but for anything that is on a map and at least occasionally scraped/leveled, it will make it. Though if you are going to hit roads with lotsa rocks bigger than marbles, better get some of those BMW GS type tires..... And if you're talking close to home with real trails as options, a dual sport is great. Got me an 06 KLX250S with upgraded tires and it rocks in anything but the AAA trials !
