Howdy. I just bought a used 05 xb9r this may. When I bought it, it had a pretty well worn rear tire, but enough to get by for a bit til I got new ones. I changed the oil the day after I bought it and went right to work using it as a commuter vehicle. A few weeks ago I started noticing a slight vibration after about 3500rpm. it was kind of a mild vibration. I figured it was the tires, so I took it off the road for a few weeks til I could afford new tires. Got new tires, took the old tires n rims to the shop they put new tires on, I brought them back home and buttoned everything up nice, took it out on the highway and it feels like I'm riding a vibrator! This bike is buzzin! I noticed at 4000rpm if I pull the clutch it smoothes out . I pull the clutch and rev it I feel the vibe, just not as strong until I release the clutch all together, then its right back buzzin away. I also noticed that it doesnt have the same get-up-and-go, which I'm thinkin might just be the new taller tires acting how they should. I took into consideration several factors which I will be checking out asap, I just wanted to feel around to see if theres something I might be overlooking. All help and suggestions are truly appreciated. Thank you oh, I also noticed a faint popping from the exhaust during deacceleration, not a full backfire, just some light pop popopop pop. This is a complete guess, but maybe the rear pulley is loose or not aligned with the rear wheel correctly? Did you put on the wheel yourself? Try taking it to a shop (a regular independent shop) and have them check it. |

There are some other posts here also but how tight did you tighten the belt. If it is to tight you'll trash the transmission output bearing or rear axle bearing. Also check front to rear belt alignment while your at it. I'm used to the tubers so you may have a tensioner. |

Check to see if the seat pan is touching the rear valve cover somewhere. I had the same problem. |

I would check the slack (freeplay) in the primary chain. If it's too loose, there will be more vibration felt because of the chain whipping up and down especially when under load than when the slack is set correctly. |

3500 rpm is where the ecm goes from open to closed loop. I would replace the Engine Temp Sensor. Factory tolerance is +/- 20% so there is a lot of room for error in this component. Will not show a code unless it is shorted to earth. My 2 cents. |
