This place has been great for random questions, so I'll give this a try... We have a Playstation 3. Last night, I was playing a game and it froze in the middle of it. Tried to reset it and it wouldn't turn back on. Tonight, after letting it rest, we tried again. The system booted up like normal, but when I started the game, the intro had no sound, then it froze again. I haven't been able to get the thing to turn on right since. Sometimes it will get to the main menu, sometimes I have to do the "restart" thing where it asks to reset the video settings, sometimes I get nothing on the screen at all. Sometimes when I try to start it in reset mode, it just turns itself right off again. We've noticed the lights on the front - the blue one under the power button doesn't seem to come at all any more. The green one does come on. I've seen it flash yellow once very quickly, andit has blinked red a couple of times as well. Also, the hard drive light doesn't seem to come anymore either - I have also seen this light blink yellow once, but that's been it. We're lost at this point. The girl is on the phone with a Sony tech right now, but it doesn't seem to be getting anywhere. Help me PLEASE!!! |

Your Cured! That will be Ten Dollars, Thank you very much! I believe that the Playstation 3 is the work of the devil and is very addictive, turning the youth of America into mind addled robots that stay up all night using cheat codes to get to the next level. My youngest is out running wild on the streets, barely able to read and write and is unemployed and unmotivated because of that damn machine. "Dad, dad, lemme show you how to kill this guy....look, look at this cool bike, I think it is a Buell" Just throw it away and ride, you will need your rest. |

Haha - well, it helps during the rain and winter months, so I think we'll keep it. Plus, the girl likes to pretend she's Neil Peart on occassion. Anywho - we didn't solve the problem, but the system (which we bought reman), is still under warranty so they fixing it for free, shipping in included. I don't know how I'll survive going without shooting random pedestrians in the head for a few weeks. (Any GTA4 fans?) |

After 6 months, mine developed a problem ejecting discs but Sony quickly fixed it even though it's a 60GB model. I'd also say go easy on the firmware updates - there are usually some 'issues' with major releases but the PS3 forums will tell you when it's safe to upgrade. |

I have a 60gb PS3... Turn it on about once a month if that. Best Blu-Ray money could buy, LOL...I paid $299.99 for a brand new 60gb model. (I find deals) |

I had read that firmware updates can cause issues, and in fact, this all happened a day or two after the latest update. I don't think it was the update though. By everything I can figure out, the hard drive bit the dust. |

Neil Pert is also a fellow motorcyclist and author of Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road. Tried to buy the book the other day but will probably have to order it online. He rides to his concerts with a buddy and an RV he can call for back up. Gets nice rooms because his travel costs less than the jet. http://books.google.com/books?id=4dSLWRQ4IsIC&dq=n eil+pert+ghost+rider&pg=PP1&ots=wShWRy3IIP&sig=IUl MzCtfGcjIabD18dP9mhDZuR4&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result &resnum=1&ct=result |

I don't know how I'll survive going without shooting random pedestrians in the head for a few weeks. +1 Mine acted funny after after the last update but cured itself promptly. |

I have the 60gb version with all of the firmware updates. No problems. Sounds like you just need to send it back. Make sure it gets enough airflow around it. At least it's not an xbox360, I have friends that are now on their 4th and 5th ones because they keep dying! |

He's probably one of the to 10 drummers of all time imo. "I believe that the Playstation 3 is the work of the devil and is very addictive, turning the youth of America into mind addled robots that stay up all night using cheat codes to get to the next level." Thank God I stayed away from PS3 and have an XBOX360. |

"At least it's not an xbox360, I have friends that are now on their 4th and 5th ones because they keep dying!" Between FT_BSTRD and I, we've been through 10. I haven't replaced one in over a year though. At one point I had 2 into MS at one time. |

I have a 360 also, but I cut a big hole in my cabinet behind it, bought a cheap 5" fan, and plugged that into the switched outlet on my surround sound receiver. I never play without the stereo on, so my fan always runs when I play xbox. I have had this one (my first) for over a year (knocks on wood, while crossing fingers)! |
