I've been reading old posts about the dobeck TFI. Some have said that it's over kill with a race ecm, but these posts are from 05. What's the consensus as of now? I have an 05 xb9s with drummer, race ecm, cut air box(I need to take a picture to verify exactly what it is, but you can see the air filter all the way around). So is the tfi just wasting my gas? |

Yup. Once it's off you will notice a big improvement all around. |

With the Race ECM? Heck yea it is. That Race ECM with your setup is all you need. |

Thanks. Now to figure out how it is connected. The bike seems to run ok unless you slightly ease off the throttle while cruising, then it coughs and surges a little. |

I'm not sure if it is overkill, but I do think that the closed loop fueling chases it's tail with the TFI installed, and it never stays properly adjusted for too long. Either that or the fueling gets locked into one map and does not update for changing atmospheric conditions. No dyno proof, but my butt dyno got confusing results. The race ecm works just fine without the TFI. |

Well it runs much smoother at cruise now. I can't really say if it's faster, but i'm happy enough to sell it. Check the classifieds if anyone is interested. |
