My 07 Uly has run great since new. It is one sweet running bike with no problems. I am approaching 10,000 miles this month. With the horror stories I read about the HD mechanics servicing Buells, I am nervous taking it in. The dealer I bought it from has a hard time with Buells: parts department is confused on Buell parts. 1,000 mile service, the service writer didn't know and was confused about the Buell nomenclature, XB12X. Perhaps I can have them just do the things I don't/can't do myself, such as TPS reset and changing fork oil. Am I being too paranoid? ---Bob |

Spend $50 +/-, get the Service manual and do it yourself. No real issues, follow the Service Manual and all will be well. Buells to Alaska ALCAN 5000 2010 |

Also find someone with the TPS softwre close to you. It is simple to do but the software is expensive. When I took mine in for original service they screwed up the TPS, once I got the software and cable and did it myself bike has run great. |

As I just recently found out...ECMspy is free software (www.ecmspy.com) and the cable is ~$40. Just have to be carefully not to mess with anything if you do not know what you are doing, but resetting the TPS is very easy. |

Here is a thread from saintly on how to change the fork oil yourself http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/153628.html?1178891937 |

I also have a hard time justifying taking my bike to a dealer. I have been doing more and more myself. The manual, this website, and the right tools should do unless something major comes up. Go slow and good luck! |

Not to thread hijack, but my local Honda dealer quoted me $129 for the fork oil change only, and claimed to know Showa forks inside and out. Is there anything "special" about the Uly's inverted Showa that a proven Honda tech couldn't properly handle? I realize there's plenty of info on do-it-yourself... |
