Well it doesn't look like i'll be out for any rides soon. I put the bike on it's side on the way home. Was taking the off ramp off of 495 and there was a 2x4 laying across the road. Swerved to avoid it and hit some sand. The bike low sided. Broke the brake lever, switches, & mirror. Bars are bent. When the front wheel is straight the instrument cluster, headlamps and fork clamps look like they are taking a right. Don't know if the forks are possibly bent. The frame is scratched up pretty good just in front of the frame puck on the right side. Looks like i'll have to wait to see what my insurance company says. |

Mine is officially back together and ridable (although I'm not, another week or two i think) The FE came out good, but the color match to the subframe spars is off. Oh well, that can be a winter project. My black dye job is a really dark blue in the sun. The good thing is the plastic under the Logo has no discoloration after i Novused it. No pics as i don't have a camera. It definitely doesn't look like an STT any more that's for sure. |

DAMN, Jim!! How'd you limp home? Sorry I missed the whole ride except for the fact that I probably would've been on your six coming off 495. Christina got on her bike today... up & down the driveway. She's getting there. |

Adrenalin got me home. I'm sure i'm gonna have some good bruises in the morning. Only had one slight scratch on the jacket and helmet. Helmet hit the ground pretty good. My neck and hip say otherwise. So it looks like i'll be in the market for a new one. |

Has anyone in here ever had a bike considered totaled by their insurance company? Did you get book value? My insurance agent told me to go to an independent repair shop and get an estimate on the repairs. Does anyone know a good shop for something like that?? |

Be weary about Precision's policies regarding estimates. They'll estimate parts they never intend to replace. They'll impound your bike until you pay 100% and not allow you to later perform the repairs yourself. With my X1 i itemized ALL the parts utilizing my parts manual with part numbers. They agreed to ALL of my list. They questioned the need for fork replace ment and i asked them if they'd like to pay my labor to disassemble the forks for further inspection...They bought me new forks regardless. And paid me the $55/hr labor they'd estimated it'd take to perform the repairs.They(ins.) have part costs as well as labor rates for parts replacement. I ran the bill right UP TO the point of total loss.I didn't want a total loss. It ended up costing me $800 to have my frame inspected/straightened.The replacement cost of a frame was an additional $2500. so i saved some there. |

I'd really love to have the thing totaled. Then use the money towards either a new 12R or an 1125CR. |

I just called GMD Computrack in Bellingham. They do insurance estimates. So I'll probably take it there to have the estimate done. |

Het Jim. First off I'm sorry to hear that, but second the ins. co. will low ball the crap out of you. You need a good shop that can write the actual value of the bike. last year my father got rear ended on his Road King in N.Y.. Ins. offered 14,000. He had Cycle Tune in Wilmington write it for him. It cost about 200$ but got him 19,500. It's worth it. Good Luck |

I didn't get "Low Balled". Not one iota.I was prepared with every last part/gasket number i felt i needed. They agreed completely and even included money allotted for labor at $55./hr. But Jim wants it to go away so...he knows what he's doing? |
