I have been considering adding a top mount steering damper to my S1. I have crossroads bars so mounting the damper looks to be no more complicated than drilling and tapping the mounting plate of the bars. The question arises about the bridge over the tank tab. Has anyone here used a mount from a another bike that places the vertical portion over the frame tubes. I would rather adapt something than re-invent the wheel if possible. The Scotts & Pitbull dampers look similar in their configuration. I saw a couple on Flea Bay that look interesting. |

dunno. I have a damper from an '07 GSXR that I'd like to adapt. I originally bought it to add to my Sportster. |

Adapting this type of damper to the tube frame does not look more difficult than welding a couple of pieces of bar stock to the top of the crossbar that retains the front tank tab and drilling and tapping. This is assuming that a mount from another bike is available with a 2.5" spacing between the mounting pins. It should not be that had to fabricate |
