I know this subject isn’t news but did any one realize that Cagiva basically got stated from the ruins of Aermacchi. How ironic is that. Do you think that the new HD can succeed where AMF failed? We all know that HD dealers know how to act snooty and hi-brow. Can’t wait for some good old boys to freak when they see a beautifully carbon clad F4sp for 50K and realize that chrome isn’t the ultimate motorcycle accessory. |

HD initiated this merger to get access to MV dealerships in Europe. I don't know how much thought they have put into how this affects US dealerships. They may not have immediate plans to change anything on the US side of the pond. We shall see. |

What . . . . .just for the fun of it . . . . if it had NOTHING to do with any of this? Are the HD folks that smart as they part with $985,00,000? What . . . I wonder . . . are they up to in the changing world of global economics? |

My impression of the HD managment team is that they are spectacular. They do not seem to make many errors or blunders in running the business. Wish I had purchased stock at the ISO. |

I didn't realize that Cagiva got started from the ruins of Aermacchi, but I do know that Cagiva was strong enough to bail out Ducati when Ducati was in trouble in the 80's. |

I always thought corporations changed hands for only two reasons, The bigger guy thinks there is value in parting out the smaller guy, hence immediate return. Smaller guy has some significant asset, ie patents, that bigger guy can't live without. Less obvious reason, bigger guy hasn't noticed his head is still shoved up his butt. ie Mercedes/Chrysler |
