Cracks me up! It never ceases to amaze me how much people bitch about being caught out doing the wrong thing! It is like they have an Oh Shit valve that opens. The sad thing is that the ones that bitch the most are the first to call the police when they are in trouble. The police are the most underpaid, unrecognised and under-appreciated people in uniform anywhere. To do what they do and see what they see and still manage a smile is a miracle in itself. I wish I could be as selfless. |

If being a "biker" is such a deep source of suffering, give it up... and cancel that subscription to "Easyriders" magazine...and lose the engineer's boots and the chain wallet.... |

You have to have a permit to gather in large groups particularly when you will be blocking and disrupting traffic. They are correct in arresting you if you are expected to gather illegally. It's not the act itself but the coordination of separate acts in order to disrupt. Sitting isn't a crime. 300 people sitting in front of the entrance of a building is. |

"You have to have a permit to gather in large groups particularly when you will be blocking and disrupting traffic. " That is not an accurate statement Parade and assembly laws vary greatly from state-to-state. when a group of HOG guys is pulling out of a bar, and one holds up traffic while the rest take off, this is a permissible act in NY, California & NJ with no permit association } |

Where I live you and you have a sport bike you are a target period, When I commute I sport the Radar.. I can't stand the cruiser double standard, I can have loud pipes, I can be Illegal as far as lights, mirrors, plates etc... Speed & Drive like and Ass and nobody even looks.. I've had some really things said and done to me while pulled over. I've been handcuffed and Illegally detained, had my vehicle Illegally searched after I declined to a search, Been cursed at and belittled.. I even had a officer get in my face and tried to goade me into "doing Something" after I very respectfully questioned his facts.. The topper I had a officer draw his taser and I respectfully asked him to draw pistol instead because of my minor heart condition. His Reply, I don't care stay where you are... I attribute a lot of this to being at the wrong place at the wrong time & with the wrong people.. Despite all this crap I kept my cool was respectful and never got arrested or ticketed. I've been pulled over and let go quite few times and the few tickets I have got my adult life the cops where cool.. The few F**K it up for rest... Unfortunately bad experiences stick with us much longer than good ones.. Its just how we are wired. |

I generally get a couple tickets a year. I have never been pulled over for nothing. I have, however, been unnecessarily hassled a few times. On one occasion this fat bastard claimed I was running and threatened to confiscate my bike and put me in jail. I just stayed quiet and eventually he stopped talking smack. Other officers showed up while I was being written up and hassled and rolled their eyes as he spoke. The times I've been busted being truly unruly and let go kinda make up for it, though, I guess. Backroads are your friend. |

Wow, thank you. I never realized I had taken the job because deep down I wanted to make life hard for people that I don't know and have never met. I guess the risk of being hit, stabbed, or shot is well worth the satisfaction I will get from pulling someone over for "no reason". Please guy, take it easy. I have only ever met one school bus driver and he was a real jag. I don't hold that against every school bus driver. You do realize that police are people, right? And as such, we are not all the same. Take ca(r)e, be safe.

Oh horseshit!!!!! There is good and bad in everyone. The only difference is that cos the Police have a uniform they are tarred with the same brush because of the small amount of assholes. Imagine if everyone who was a bigot, a rapist, an irratic driver, a paedophile etc had to have there problem listed in large letters on their orange jumpsuits they had to wear 'cos they did not fit the 'normal' stereotype. Would be pretty easy to mouth off at them and point the finger now wouldn't it? When you get to deal with druggies, wife bashers, child molesters, petty theives and all other nature of people you too would probably take exception to some smartass telling you that you do not know what you are talking about or which protective weapon to use etc. Wake up Dude! |

Whatever.. You weren't there... Don't Imply I'm some Cocky Smart Mouth... I'm sorry Tasers are a killer for people with certain medical conditions, So people with Heart Conditions, Epileptics and others should just shut our mouths... Just because you deal with sh*tty people all day it gives you the right or excuse to be a Douche Canoe.. Its called being professional as an officer you are held to higher standards, just as I was in the Marine Corps. |

That is not an accurate statement Parade and assembly laws vary greatly from state-to-state. when a group of HOG guys is pulling out of a bar, and one holds up traffic while the rest take off, this is a permissible act in NY, California & NJ with no permit association Your statement is an inaccurate statement. In the context of the story about bicycles in NYC, Chapter 1, Section 10-110 states the following: "Section 10-110 of the New York City Administrative Code, enacted by the City Council, requires that a permit be obtained from the Police Commissioner before a “parade” can take place “upon any street or in any public place.” The resulting parade regulations, adopted by the NYPD in January, broadly define “parade” as any “recognizable group” of “50 or more pedestrians, vehicles or bicycles" that “procee together upon any public street or roadway.” Per THIS law, the police were correct in detaining anyone suspected of being part of a "parade" without a permit. You "HOG" group is irrelevant to this discussion. |

"When you get to deal with druggies, wife bashers, child molesters, petty theives and all other nature of people you too would probably take exception to some smartass telling you that you do not know what you are talking about or which protective weapon to use etc." So i can be a ass to everybody cause i deal with bad people, thats a pretty lame excuse. |

You expect the officers to be totally devoid of any human traits when dealing with the "others" but are real happy to bash them when dealing with you. Have a think about it. Put yourself in their shoes. |

Ft-Bstrd: REREAD your post- you cite a CITY regulation, after I mention the STATE variances. First thing man in deep hole should do is drop the shovel My "HOG" reference is entirely relevant, as HOG is a recognized, open order (non-dues-paying) of enthusiasts identifiable by insignia, for which any enforcement officer might easily recognize as being a concrete unit which thereby might require safe egress onto or off of a roadway, despite specialized permitting or absence thereof. |

REREAD your post- you cite a CITY regulation, after I mention the STATE variances. Where did I reference a state? Where was there a reference to any other place other than NYC in the post I referenced? The only one digging holes here is you. |

"None of the revelations here are shocking or old. Just facts no one likes to hear period " Its not that it is hard to hear, we just want everyone to remember that because you have one bad apple doesnt mean the rest of us are bad. We as police officers do the job because we love helping people. I've have been shot at, and stabbed. most recently myself and three fellow colleges responded to a bank robbery and got there as the bad guy was coming out. Small foot chase and the bad guy decided he wanted to turn around and come at us with a knife. Well needless to say hes not here any more but that doesnt mean I am going to be an a$$ to everyone who has a knife. I guess the thing to remember is there are always a few bad eggs, but calling us "Pigs" and other names is passing judgement on all of us when there are too many of us on this board that enjoy doing the same things everyone else does. Its nice outside I am going for a ride to relax. |
