I know they are supposedly 'random' but I seriously doubt that is the case. Mine is a November 2007, #186. Relatively low number, early production month. I can't really say I have "one of the first" but it's definitely an early production bike. What # and month are your bikes? |

I've been tracking data around 1125R owners in this forum since back in December. From the owners that have posted VIN numbers and build dates the data does not look random. Here's one of the previous threads on VIN and there's another I can't locate at the moment. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/330425.html?1200594830 I think the first 50 vins were used for the pre-production bikes. The lowest production vin I've seen is #90 built in Oct 07. Mine is #105 also built in Oct 07 |

Not sure of my date of roll off, I think it was October , but got #114 , and if the first 50 were pre-production....she's like #64 , even though I know they say there is no rhyme or reason behind the sequential numbering . |

Here's what I have so far in my tracking spreadsheet. Keep in mind this is purely based on what owners have reported. I have some vin#'s that I don't have build dates on but I'm not making any assumptions. So if you can fill in any of the gaps let me know. Fill free to PM me if you don't want your vin number and build date posted here but want to help fill in the gaps. Oct-07 90-114 Nov-07 142-360 Dec-07 399-624 Jan-08 767-993 Feb-08 1466-1623 Mar-08 1861-1861 Lowest - 90 Highest 2690 Neil - Your striper alias almost got you on my list twice! |

Very nice Spectrum. Even though there are some big gaps in your list it shows some fairly consistent production numbers. What was the total number of bikes built for `08? I remember someone posting a number based on a recall or something. |

What was the total number of bikes built for `08? Based on Mike's post above it looks like as of June it's approaching 3500. |

I may be able to add something to this thread. I have been watching this board for some time and just got my 25R on Wednesday. I was supposed to get a bike that had been in the show room for sometime and a very good price. However, they could not get the recall kit. A new 1125R arrived at the dealer late last week that was not on hold for any recalls. The bike I was supposed to get was number 0790. The number I got on a July 08 manufactured bike was 3717. So, I am guessing my bike is near the end of the run of about 3800 bikes and the numbers are pretty much sequential. By the way, I have only put a couple of hundred miles on it, but no problems so far. I am in southern Arizona, so it is not exactly cool here. My one small issue is that the gas vapors it gives off when I park for the day are strong enough that I park it outside for some time when I get home before putting it into the garage. |
