Hey guys I'm on my cell ph writing this so I can't do a search but could someone tell me right quick a fast/easy way to change the plugs in my 12R do I HAVE to swing the motor if so how? If I have to swing the motor I'll try to make arrangements to get the bike home. I only have the tools on my bike and a set of basic hand tools some wrenches and sockets but not much. The rear plug is either fouled or broke they have 11.5k miles on them happen to have the new ones on me hehe go figure. any help be appreciated |

You do not have to rotate the engine. You do have to remove the airbox and it's base. The rear is easier than the front. A long extension and a universal with a plug socket is required. Hope this helps. Neil S. |

It will be a pain but you can ride on one cylinder by slipping the clutch. Been there done that. |

For the front plug you need to remove the left side scoop- 3 bolts or so and it'll come off. |

I never have removed the airbox, just the left side scoop for the front and the seat for the rear. A swivel socket and extension is necessary for the rear. |

The boot tool is like a screwdriver, only with a claw that you place under the boot and pull it off with no damage. Also a hunk of vacuum line on the plug terminal works great to start the new plug into the head. |

Well I'm home and yeah I wish I had had a Plug Boot tool as I pulled the wire right from the clip on the rear plug but I was able to re-pinch it but will buy a new wire this weekend. Below is a pic of the plug with 11,500 miles on them not bad not really worn at all but the rear one broke as you can see in the pic I was going approx 90mph when everything went haywire I thought I blew the motor but all is well now that the new Iridium plugs are in. Yup - I'd say the one is bad. Good to hear you made it out. Cops with out radios? Sounds to me like you can get away with speeding where you are, lol. |

The diodes look run-able....did the plug snap when you were pulling it? |

it was snapped in the boot. they really aren't in bad shaped with 11k miles on them the tips aren't worn that much if at all I was getting great fuel mileage and had absolutely no problem with the bike before this. |

Glad you made it home. Some people might have forgotten that he was on the side of the road with just basic tools . Yep every 10 or 10,000 miles it might not be a bad idea to change them. |
