Hello All! I am coming home from my second Iraq tour in less than a month. It has been horrible to be away from my bike during the good riding months! At least I haven't been buying any gas! Well, there are things I want to do with my bike. I want new brake rotors and pads, probably the Braking wave rotors I have seen. How much do those usually run, and where the heck can I buy em? Also, I want to take the grenade plate out of my clutch if it is not done yet, as well as update the primary shoe. I will also flush and bleed the brakes, and I am getting a new battery and cables. It was getting hard to start, and the battery is just getting old I think. Anything else I should do? Also, it has a problem where I am going full throttle in first, second, or third gears and it gets to about 5k rpms, it seems to lose power or drop a cylinder or something, but as soon as you let off the gas a tad bit it goes right back into haul ass mode. Any thoughts on that? Oh yeah, its a 98 s1 with an s&s super e carb, s&s intake, andrews cams, v&h exhaust. IT also seems like it is lagging in power, but the plugs read a nice tan color and they are nice and dry. I know thats alot of questions but im hoping with all your help i can be back on the road real quick when i get home and get the sand blown off! Thanks! |

Sounds like your too rich on the main jet. Had a super "E" on mine for a while, went back to the Keihin, better throttle response. |

would it be a better idea to do a whole teardown of my bike? Ive been thinking a new color in the works, possibly getting the frame powdercoated the same harley orange as the plastic. I havent ever torn down a street motorcycle before, but I think the only thing that would give me any problems would be the front end and maybe spreading the frame to get the isolators and drivetrain off the frame. I work on helicopters in the marines, so I am good with electronics, as thats my job. Im good at mechanical stuff too. The base has a hobby shop with just about ever mechanical tool i could think of needing, and i can store it there when i work on it. Thanks again! |
