That's all I can say after a demo ride of the 1125r. I've never seen 100 mph so fast in my life! It was a about a 20 minute ride, unsupervised. The good- Bike feels so much lighter and flickable than the cityX. Not sure why, but it does. Silly acceleration. nuff said on that. The not so good- Low rpm surging. Wasn't nearly as bad as some make it sound (on this bike anyway), but was noticeable. When I parked it, it stunk like gas pretty bad, and dripped a few drops out of the vent hose back at the rear swingarm. Conclusion- I'm gonna go for it. They're gonna call me when they get a white and blue 09 in. (Message edited by badlionsfan on July 27, 2008) |

Good to hear. I'm trying to get a demo on an 1125R as well - once that's done I'll feel comfortable putting a deposit down on a CR. |

Good title for this thread - I still say that to myself when I really get on it! |

I'm curious if you demo'd a 2008 or a 2009. Hopefully a 2008. If the surging issue you felt was on a 2009 you will hear a whooshing sound as the air goes out of a lot of '08 owner's sails. I'm encouraged at the implied improved remapping for the '09 (and potential application for '08s), so PLEASE say it was an '08!! |

I don't think any '09s are available yet. Mid September? |

It was an 08. No 09's out yet. It gave me a good enough impression that I want an 09 when they're available. Like I said tho, the surging wasn't unbearable IMO. I would be willing to buy an 08 (at a closeout price of course), but I'm, infatuated with that white and blue. |

The California models don't drip and barely give off any fuel fumes. The carbon cannisters do not weigh much and don't effect performance and they recycle the evaporated fumes. I wonder if it's enough to improve mileage? I'm guessing not much? |

I wonder if one could buy the stuff to make it a Cali bike? That would fix that gas problem, which was the biggest thing I saw on my pre/ during/ post ride today. |

Check with your dealer. Lord knows what the price would be, but just looking at mine I'd say that it shouldn't be too expensive. They are available through the dealers here of course for repairs. (Message edited by unibear12r on July 27, 2008) |

One other not so good thing I forgot. What's up with the mirrors? They kept moving where they attach at the windscreen. Were they just loose and in need of tightening or do they always drift in? |

One other not so good thing I forgot. What's up with the mirrors? They kept moving where they attach at the windscreen. Were they just loose and in need of tightening or do they always drift in? My right mirror initially did this also. I (un)fortuneately broke it off and installed a new one, which does not have the drifting problem. Note that the mirror stalk is not supposed to be rotated back and forth at the fairing mount point. Only the glass itself is supposed to be used for adjustments. My guess is that the bikes with mirror drift have been abused by folks in the showroom. One solution for the mirror drift (sorry, forgot who posted it) was a few drops on the pivot point from a can of spray adhesive, just to sure things up a bit... |

I just got my first 1125 test ride this afternoon. Holy friggin' cow. I'm sold. That bike pulls harder at 3500rpm at half throttle than my XB at full. I'm sold, big time. My dealer gets thier first black 1125CR is Sept. My name is on it. |

Just wait until you ride one that's broke in. You will look like the "Joker" with that permanent SEG. |

Badlionsfan, if the gas smell is a real problem for you the charcoal canister and hoses can be added on. That's what Buell recommended I do with my bike, but I never did it. |

That may be something I look into if it's an issue. I have a private garage at my apartment complex, but the rafters are open and if the gas smell were strong enough others may complain. any idea how much $$ the canister kit costs? |

Is the charcoal canister for teh CA models? Are there any other differences on a CA model than a regular one? |

How does work if I bought a non-CA bike while living in another state and brought it to CA with me? Are there issues with registering it? Could I buy a non-CA bike from another state even while I lived in CA? Are either subject to emissions/sound testing? ...just to satisfy my curiousty... |

>>>Are there issues with registering it? Many. Oft discussed here. You can get the info on the State of CA website. There are (working from memory) 3 requirements. Bottom line: PITA and it has to have something like 8500 miles |

>>>Is the charcoal canister for the CA models? Read chapter 4.8 (Page 4-25) of the 1125R Service Manual for a complete overview of California bikes. Differences are minimal and don't warrant the goofiness of buying and importing. Don't relive the Legend of Ed Law . . perhaps one of the most fabled Buell Customer Service cases of the last 15 years. |

Thanks for the heads up court. I'm thinking about the possibility of relocating, and it may come at about the same time I'm buying a new bike. I'll have to read up and see what the hassle might be... |

How does work if I bought a non-CA bike while living in another state and brought it to CA with me? Are there issues with registering it? If you move to CA and become a resident, there is no issue with registering the vehicles that you are the registered owner. I've done this myself with no issues. Could I buy a non-CA bike from another state even while I lived in CA? The law states that the vehicle must have more than 8,500 miles on it. I have heard that the local authorities seem to give a person a hazzle even if that is not the case. If you live in CA, your best bet is to buy a CA vehicle. |

When did it change to 8,500-miles? It has always been 7500-miles. --Sean |

>>>>When did it change to 8,500-miles? It has always been 7500-miles. You are probably correct. See my "working from memory" caveat and be mindful that my memory has far more than 7,500 miles on it and has been cited as being bogged down by "Courtsheimers". It is a true pain in the ass to take a non-CA bike to CA. There is a complete account of Jerry Haughton's ordeal in the archives here on Badweb. Court |

It is a true pain in the ass to take a non-CA bike to CA. That is why I am glad KTM made their Street legal dirt bikes 50 state legal. It allowed me to purchase one in Arizona for a much better price than any of the local dealer's could give me. Plus it was delivered to my driveway.} (Message edited by krassh on August 01, 2008) |

Did some reading - The rule is 7500 miles to register a non-CA vehicle in CA. Also, if you are moving into the state, you're allowed to register a non-CA vehicle as long as it was first registered by you in your previous residence state while you lived there. It sounds like buying a non-CA used vehicle (more than 7500 miles) for use in CA is not a problem. I'm wondering, if say, I move there and have a non-CA bike and get it registered there. Then, I need to sell it when it only has 5000 miles on it. Because it was brought into the state legitamely, can a CA resident buy and it register it regardless of the mileage? There was a lot of legal mumbo jumbo on the CA DMV site, but that was the impression I got. A lot of paperwork, but it could be done. |
