Oh! You mean to tell me that one of the early, more common failing parts was a Ducati spec part! Oh NO! That just couldn't BE!![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/dogpile.gif) |

Big deal . . as soon as you read the epic best seller 25 YEARS OF BUELL you will know that the S-1 used a part on the prototypes that was from a Ducati/BMW part source. When it came time to buy the part . . . it was unobtainium and an older white haired gentlemen ended up cutting a deal to buy every one that BMW North America had . . . . |

And be mindful that Ducati, the motorcycle company, made electronics, capacitors and appliances long before they introduced their first motorbike. |

I never understand most of these anonymous posts. Like revealing who you are really changes anything about the post. Do people do this by mistake, is this the reason? just wondering... |

I'm sure if Erik himself decides to make a post he'd rather avoid the attention he may get. Same goes for any other "official" Buell source - I can only imagine the endless PMs they might receive if their identity was known. |

To be honest I don't think there's been that many VR failures reported. I was feeling onery at the time and wanted to tease the blind Ducati Mafia a bit.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/biggrin.gif) |

>>>>is this the reason? No. The reason is that posting on the Internet is strictly prohibited by Harley-Davidson policy. It's an outgrowth of vicarious liability imposed by a justice system gone mad and a corporation with some of America's deepest pockets. In addition, Harley-Davidson is dead serious about it as 3 folks who have joined the ranks of "former employees" for posts here can attest. There are times that folks from HD and Buell read this, want to shed light or factual information and the anonymous post is a valuable tool. The right to post "anonymously" is regulated and folks wanting to do so must receive clearance and have a valid reason. Blake has done a superior job of doing this, remaining consistent in his policy and stemming the spread of ridiculous rumors. It's not a perfect process, but it's a good one. Court P.S, - I loved the days, yeeeeeeears ago. when Erik and I used to post under our own names and man oh man did we get in some good ones . . . . I printed and saved all those posts and they certainly lend support to the fact that he is passionate about motorcycles. |

"Usually the Anony posts are made by someone from the factory." I'd not state that. Even if true, there'd be no better way on Earth to discourage such participation here than to openly confirm it. |
