After discovering that my 98 S1 has bad isolators in it with less than 18K on the clock, I found the thread in the knowledge vault regarding the service bulletin BP5. If I understand the document, Buell will replace these under warranty. i did not see a time limit on this Bulletin. The same appears true for the Safety Recall code 0810 for the front isolator mount. Does anyone have any experience with the dealers obligation under these programs? I am not the original owner of the bike and had bought it in Massachusets. | ||

Had a warranty issue with my 2000 Blast("i" am the 6th owner) and Harley-Davidson(they are BUELL Customer Service)said they would fix it under their COURTESY WARRANTY PROGRAM(ie: take it to a Dealer to take apart and submit the paper work for it to be done)pending Harley-Davidsons approval ... The "CATCH" was if not approved "i" would owe the Dealer the labor monies to take apart and submit paper work ... This could be much more that if "i" just bought the parts and fixed it myself if denied !!! | ||

You have no greater tool than simple courtesy in requesting that they perform this under a 10 year old program. No one has any LEGAL obligation. I would not be the least bit surprised to see you get taken care of. Buell has a stellar reputation of going light years beyond what is expected or that they are "legally" obligated to do. Court | ||

I spoke to a local HD dealer who told me that the rear isolators were not covered by any recall. They did however confirm that most of the other recalls with my bike had been done by the previous owner so it was not a complete waste of time. Does anyone make a polyurethane set of replacements that would last longer than the stock units?18K seems like pretty poor service life. | ||

There are improved rear isolators - I just finished putting them in my 99 S3 a couple of weeks ago (mine were ok, snapped a belt and decided to replace the isolators while I had it apart). I would say that the 10 years (possibly coming up on 11 with the introduction of the 09 models) is more responsible for them wearing out than the mileage - think about what a 10 year old tire sidewalls look like and you will know what I mean. | ||

The replacement Isolators you want are: Right Part Number L0505.9R Left Part Number L0504.9L Think they came out in 2001 ??? With the "BUELLschitte" Part Numbering System that BMC now uses, without the part number code sheet one will never know ... (Message edited by buellistic on July 25, 2008) | ||

I ordered what is described as the new updated version from Al at American Sport Bike. He has never steered me wrong and the parts were $30 less than the HD part including shipping. |
