From the H-D/Buell press release:

BUELL DEBUTS LIQUID-COOLED 1125CR FOR 2009
New Ulysses Police Joins Restyled Lightning and Firebolt in Buell Line

EAST TROY, Wis. (July 22, 2008) Buell brings superbike performance to the streetfighter category in 2009 with the introduction of the 1125CR, a new model featuring a modern interpretation of cafe racer styling and the power of the Buell Helicon 1125 liquid-cooled V-Twin engine. The 1125CR is one of nine 2009 Buell Sportbike, Streetfighter, Adventure Sportbike and Blast models.

Part superbike and part streetfighter, the 1125CR is my vision of a 21st century cafe racer, said Erik Buell, chairman and chief technical officer at Buell Motorcycle Company. It’s got Clubman-style bars and a flyscreen instead of a fairing. Then we geared it down to optimize acceleration. With a class-leading weight-to-horsepower ratio, the 1125CR takes streetfighter performance to a new level.

Buell Highlights for 2009

The Buell 1125CR
A cafe racer for the 21st century, the new 1125CR nods respectfully to the past with clubman bars, flyscreen and a tail cowl, while a 146-hp, liquid-cooled Buell Helicon 1125 V-Twin engine and Buell Intuitive Response Chassis (IRC) deliver the performance and handling of a modern superbike. Final-drive gearing is lowered about eight percent from the 1125R to optimize acceleration. Its sinister styling will make this bike unmistakable on the street.

New on Buell XB Streetfighters
Buell XB Lightning Streetfighters, powered by an air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm V-Twin, get a menacing new look thanks to a blacked-out frame, forks, engine and other components. Lightning models powered by the Thunderstorm 1203 engine upgrade to the Buell ZTL2 front brake with four-pad, eight-piston caliper, a design that debuted on the 1125R in 2008. The XB12Ss gets fitted with the same supermoto-inspired suspension as the 2008 XB12STT, and the new seat on the 2009 XB9SX lowers the seat height by 1.3 inches to 30.1 inches.

New on Buell Sportbikes
The Buell 1125R, powered by the 146-hp, liquid-cooled Buell Helicon 1125cc V-Twin engine, is available in new body and wheel colors and with tinted windscreens for 2009. Also new for 2009 on the 1125R and 1125CR models are targeted fuel injectors, relocated O2 sensors, and updated engine spark and fuel maps. The combination of these features offers improved drivability below 6000 rpm, even crisper throttle response, improved heat management, and significantly improved fuel economy. The updated engine spark and fuel maps will also be made available for 2008 1125R models. The Firebolt XB12R, powered by the air/oil/fan-cooled Thunderstorm 1203cc V-Twin, has a new blacked-out frame, swingarm, powertrain, forks and other components. The performance of the 12R is even better in 2009 with the addition of the eight-piston Buell ZTL2 front brake, and new high-performance Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tires.

New on Buell Adventure Sportbikes
The sport-touring Buell Ulysses XB12XT, introduced mid-year 2008, joins the versatile, all-road Ulysses XB12X in the 2009 Buell Adventure Sportbike category. Both models feature new aluminum footpegs with an aggressive sawtooth pattern. The new Buell Ulysses Police XB12XP is a special duty motorcycle intended for government agencies and private security firms requiring a quick and very nimble pursuit-and-patrol vehicle capable of travel over a variety of road surfaces. It comes equipped with a special wiring harness for easy installation of an Emergency Response Kit, which includes special compact, hard-shell top and side cases, a siren, and LED police pursuit lamps.

New Drive Belt
All 2009 Buell XB models will be fitted with a new, more durable Veyance Hibrex drive belt with Flexten Plus technology, the same belt technology that was originally developed for the Buell 1125R.

Economical Buell Blast
The easy-handling and affordable Buell Blast inspires confidence in new riders and offers performance to satisfy an experienced motorcyclist. Powered by a 34-horsepower, 492cc single-cylinder engine, the 360-pound Blast can achieve 73 mpg highway fuel economy. The Blast is the training vehicle for the Rider’s Edge New Rider course, which has trained more than 100,000 riders since 2000. For 2009, the Blast is offered in new Sunfire Yellow, and Midnight Black, both with Stardust Silver wheels.

The Buell Lightning XB12S and Lightning Super TT XB12STT will not be produced for 2009.

Why oh why did they not make this bike a true street fighter. Being a Uly pilot they had me sucked in until I saw the clips ons and rear sets. Why not but an MX style bar and relax the leg room and make a true street fighter. Oh well there is always next year.

Hooliken, if you look at the accessories they'll charge you another couple hundred bucks for straight bars and extra long cabling and hoses to turn it into a more upright ride with wider bars. They still don't have drop pegs like the lightning though.

Man, I love the blue and white scheme on the 1125R. Makes me kinda wish I had waited. The spools on the swingarm should have been there in '08 as we all know.

I want one of the blue windscreens. I've cured my "spool" issue by epoxying a 1"x0.25" piece of key stock on the boss on the bottom of the swingarm. My T-Rex stand has round rubber pieces that slip under the swing arm the key stock keeps it from sliding further forward.

I've posted this on this site b4: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/361281.html?1211859223

There is a small bump/ boss there now. Not enough to keep my stand from "walking" up the swing arm. If needed, I can shoot some picts tonight. Really it's just 5min epoxy and 1/4" keystock and off you go. May not be "spools" but it sure works with my T-Rex stand.

Would you complain if it overheated and left you stranded?

How about with a Uly seat? For those who may need to carry a larger than petite 'ballast' back there.

"these radiators are working well in the Benelli TNT 1130 models! and remember the Honda VTR 1000, VFR..."

Yeah, and neither the VFR or the VTR made the kind of power the 1125 does. I have owned 2 RC51's and the radiators didn't work worth a damn. The most popular mod to an RC51 was front mounted radiators and even the HRC race bikes had them. Of course at $3K for the kit it was a bit pricey so most of us just rode them the way they were and complained. Brad, you have owned 5 Buells and how many of those were watercooled?

1130 get more rear wheel hp than 1125 ..

reducing the plastic side dimension bike will change a lot and will look a lot better ... but very lot better ...
on the 1125R the side is ok seems part of fairing .. but on this and on the other model that will come without the full firing is a nonsense ..
I hope that buell will consider the Idea to reduce it ...

It sure is fun been able to turn your imagination into a picture. The digital age has really changed the face of print and photography.

It still can be a challenge to make it look realistic instead of a cartoon. Getting the shadows and reflections correct is still an art.

I like the look of the "cutaway" pods, too bad it won't work.
Airflow goes to the inside, no air would flow thru the radiator.

Might be a "cool" Fall-Winter mod to reverse the airflow and dump hot air around the riders' legs.
Not too friendly for 100˚+ ambients tho...

That's a really nice photoshop...

...but...

people are already bitching about how the CR is a "parts bin" bike - how does re-using even more body parts fix this?

I'd be interested to see what the 1125CR looks like as-is but with an S tail. Not that I would buy one (I like the R tail), but because I think that's MUCH more likely to be what Buell would build anytime soon.

I wonder why with all the trouble that some of us are having with surging and hesitation would BMC change the header pipes with new O2 sensor locations, "targeted fuel injectors, yet another new map and all the while boasting very high fuel economy... I wonder if they will make a kit available for the first guys who took a chance on a new bike.

And just what are "Targeted Fuel Injectors" anyway? Different spray pattern? Are these first ones just an off the shelf.
