In these dealer meetings, does anybody raise the issue of us common non-employed by Buell or H-D, complete hatred of going into a dealership? The few good ones are spread around the states and they are the few good ones. All the rest are just H-D dealerships with Buells tucked away in the corner. Do yall talk about building GOOD relationships with Buell riders so that in the future when we get old and fat we'll come in and enjoy buying something from the mothership? Do yall talk about promoting sportbike nights or days to get your typical Joe Rocket on his Kawihonmahuiki to come in and look at the technology and have someone that can explain said technology to them to gain a possible future customer, or is it simply "the Mothership sent down some new rules we have to follow...yada yada yada...." Maybe, even a stand alone Buell, MV, Cagiva dealership wouldn't be a bad idea. Start out with one in each region in the U.S., build the relationships, clients, and return customers and then branch out. oh well, enough of my little rant, but the sad thing is is the perception of going to a H-D dealership to buy a sportbike is alot like going to Mcdonalds to buy a chicken sandwich when there is a Chic-fil-a next door. good day gentlemen and try to instill some of the Buell values on the idiots that will be attending the meeting along side you. | ||

That's really more of a WINTER dealer show list of topics. And yes, believe it or not, they have special "classes" or seminars on how to sell Buell, how to handle the Buell customer, how to market Buells. I went to one myself in January - they even had a few guest speakers (you've probably heard of at least one of them). It was a good seminar, it really gave some good ideas. Of course, you'd have to be interested in doing those things to sign up for the seminars - they can't FORCE dealers to attend. So the ones who are interested attend, the ones who aren't, well, don't. Believe me, I HATE reading about lousy dealer experiences. I'm not sure what we can do as a dealership except try our best - and hope that others start to do that too. BTW I am VERY interested in what happens next with MV Cagiva. I'm hoping that topic comes up at some length at the show. Of course, I'M not going.  ->ChelleM | ||

It's going to be cool. Yes, those topics are not only discussed at the meetings but are under close scrutiny. Hopefully it'l be phrased a bit more tactfully. Imagine if they were to approach you with a serious inquiry and phrased it "hey you dumb idiot what is your worthless opinion?" Tone and wisdom ultimately shapes all processes and outcomes. Just to clarify, I'm not pointing at anybody related to the Buell H-d family that are on this board. If logistics would work for me to get to anyone on here, I am pretty sure my experience would be nothing but positive. I thank you all for yalls input on a variety of different things from new things coming to service and troubleshooting as well. I just wish, as many of yall probably do, that more people in decision making positions cared. Fortunately for the dealerships they are selling an icon or a "lifestyle" with the H-D line, and it probably doesn't take much to sell them. Usually when someone decides to purchase a particular thing, myself included, the item generally sells itself if the price is close to market price. Everybody knows the H-D name, their fathers, grandfathers, and even great grandfathers rode Harleys. Buells, on the other hand require teaching people about the product all the way from sales to parts to service. They are a different animal that deserves a different approach on aquiring a customer base. It seems like the mothership is going about the marketing of the Buell as it did the Harley so many years ago, (service/police bike) unfortunately, I'm afraid it won't be enough to capture market share. for the record, I'm rooting for the nuclear blue frame with orange bodywork too. sorry Court, my sharp tongue usually keeps me in trouble daily. The Unions that you deal with are made up of good people for the most part, it's the ring leaders that are getting their pockets padded with dues and payoffs from local officials I would have a problem with. By the sound of it, those are the folks that you have to deal with mostly. Truthfully, I wouldn't survive in New York City, too fast paced and too many impolite people. | ||

I've heard some things about 09 Buell, but fear the Rightous Inquisition that's happened here before...so I offer up an image of the new VRSCF that's supposedly being intro'd tomorrow.  I heard the Nightrod is being cancelled as well. | ||
