While it has been discussed at length that these bikes are hot, something that everyone should be careful of and why I didn't ride to work today. In traffic not moving heat stroke is a real possibility, in fact I did ride it Tuesday to work and could feel myself getting a little light headed. I'm working in Schaumburg IL the weather has been in the 90s for the better part of the week. its just something to keep in mind when you look down and see the ambient temp well into the 100's and the coolant temp up past 210. | ||

sounds like you were a bit dehydrated...drink more water well ahead of riding on hot days | ||

210? Is that all? Man, both of my last side mounted radiator motorcycles(2002 and 2000 RC51's) routinely saw coolant temps in excess of 230. 220 was the "normal" operating temperature it seems. The solution for both if those bikes was to simply go faster and I suspect that if the heat ever becomes an issue on my 1125, I will employ the same tactic  | ||

By the time the temps hit 95 I'm drinking 2l of water on my 55 mile drive home (with ice). I also find that wetting down the crook of my sleeves on my mesh jacket goes a LOOOONG ways to keeping me cooool. Neil S. | ||

they have come out with cooling vest you soak them in water for like ten minutes or more and they last all day keeping you cool, I have not tried one yet but will. I also have heard of the aerostich riding suits preventing dehydration, I have a riding suit that I wear when it is hot and it is my face that feels the heat, I plan on getting one of the cooling vest when I order kevlar gloves but first I have to get a photo copy of my hand so they can make me a glove that fits good and can be found at www.motoport.com I have one of there suits and want there gloves, and will order one of these cooling vest, there price is 60 and I have seen them else were for 90. | ||

I picked up a Vanson mesh jacket at Lincoln, NE HD/B. Got a small, looks dorky but will be great protection if... It's cooler than no-shirt and no sunburn. It even has the Buell logo on the left shoulder. Z | ||

I've got this one: http://www.glaciertek.com/cooling.htm and it works GREAT! When I get home from my commute, my Wife steals it from me to go do lawn and garden work. She looks like she has a bullet proof vest own. The neighbors looked at her kinda strange the first couple of times. When they found out how cool she really was, 3 of them bought them. Our guys back in die-cast use them and it makes a world of difference. | ||

i agree on the dehydrated part!! if you got yourself the buell logo'd dehydration pack, this would not be an issue haha! | ||

lol drink water. Wet your shirt before you ride, and drink more fluids each time you stop. Today as traffic slowed I was seeing AT's in the 140s and CT's up to 227! I was nervous to say the least. No heat stroke, just worried about cooling the bike down. I was stuck in two lane stop and go traffic with cement barriers on either side. Luckily it was only for about 4 miles... Then AT dropped to just over 100, with CT sitting between 205-215. | ||

Had heard about the heat issues with the 1125R and experienced it firsthand...it was enough to put a screeching halt on buying one. After 16 miles, the frame holding the fuel became too hot to handle leaving burns on my legs, where they came in contact with the frame. Is this an issue with the individual bike or symptomatic with the 1125R in general? Also had a problem with some serious vibration coming through the handlebars to my hands, which is not good for any distance in riding. I had my heart set on getting an 1125R, but the heat and vibrations issues will have to be worked out, first. Any idea on what's going on with these issues? Is there still hope? Color me...gone puttin' SE | ||

From Buell...The frame gets hot, and it is not a concern. Hopefully the updates for 09 will be passed on to us. My bike is dreadfully hot when I get caught in traffic. I have also seen info about the 09 getting 39 and 53 for fuel economy...I get 30....no matter what I do. Get me the new map and something to reduce the heat going into the frame and I will be a happy camper. | ||

1000 miles and Throttlemeisters and my 1125R is smooth as silk at 75MPH. Yeah, it shakes a little over 6000RPM, but what doesn't? It certainly is smoother than my FJR1300 and the Kawi ZX6R I tracked in May. ('course my RS1200 is the smoothest of all) For frame temps, I'm trying to get TechSpec to make their kits for the 1125s about 2" longer at the bottom. 1/4" of rubber is a great heat insulator. However, I'm also hoping the 09 maps and injectors resolve some of the heat issues also. | ||

It would be really nice to hear from someone at Buell about the situation. I was smitten with the 1125R! But sustaining burns to my legs after less than 16 miles on the bike indicated that all the magazines articles and second information about complaints at track days were not just "hot air"...pardon the pun. Yes, I do wear PPE (proper protective equipment), when I ride. I would love to get an 1125R (Sorry...the 1125CR does nothing for me!), but I cannot justify that kind of money for something that I can't ride very far or much at all. If I get an 1125R, maybe I'll have to call myself, "Red Hot Chilly Peppers". Got the Sizzle? SE | ||

" So the frame got hot enough to actually burn your legs, through leathers, in 16 miles of riding? Odd, considering it gets pretty hot here in Alabama and while the frame gets hot, it doesn't get hot enough to burn the skin much less do so through leathers. | ||

No burns here. I've seen 107 AT at 60 mph, CT at 197. I've put over 900 miles on her in one day. 11,400+ miles, no burns. I wear jeans, unless it's cool enough to need leathers. I do hold my right leg out as far as I can, it does heat up at a light. YMMV Z | ||

When the weather warms up add a glass in the morning to your favorite drink. Take it before you start to sweat. |
