...of you are waiting on front brake lines for the 1125? My bike has been in the shop for two weeks now for getting the trany recall done, replace a leaky radiator and replace the front brake line that was scraped to the armor by the front fender. My dealer doesn't seem to trace parts on order for service unless you nag them a bit or they have to clean the dust off the bike to see what brand it is. So I nagged them today and the trace came back "Not Available" !!! That's nice. So now they are going to call the factory to see what's up with that. Next week of course, but that's my fault for being patient, polite (and a bit dumb) and waiting until friday to nag. I'm never too happy with taking my Buells in to the shop considering it's a hundred miles and almost always requires an extended stay so I'm out the fuel for a chase car too. I really do not want to have to go pick up this bike now only to have to take it back for the same problem again later. (Message edited by unibear12r on July 18, 2008) | ||

My bike was at the dealer for 14 days the first time. They never called me to keep me informed, I always had to call them. After 14 days they finally called to tell me to pick it up. No problem found, normal. What a waste of time. The quickest I've ever got it back was 3 days. | ||

The only difference I have where I live is that there are three dealers to choose from with no parts in stock, bad communications and repeat visits mandatory. | ||

my dealer is AWESOME..i go to grand canyon h-d in mayer, az..and those guys are a bunch of great guys who always take care of me and i've had my bike there a couple times and had it back in a couple hours  ..thats also where my dad bought his street glide.. all of them are GREAT and very friendly...if u need a dealer in AZ then go there trust me .. | ||

I may have come across as too critical on my dealer in my venting above. In fact they have been working on their problems of late and done well at solving most. Overall I rate them as one of the better dealers from what I've seen and read of. I got a call from the dealer SM today for me to pick up the bike. The recall and radiator are done. However the brake line will NOT be done in the forseeable future. It was stated that he had called the factory to let them know that he had a number of 1125s with the problem. According to him no front brake lines for the 1125 are "released" with no idea as to when they will be. Oddly, I seem to remember seeing them on American Sport Bike's web site. I don't feel it's unsafe to ride in the short term as the armor is intact and I've braced the line away from the fender now. | ||

Hey unibear, the dealership said that it's unavailable? I work at one and I just checked the part number and it is available. Should be no problem getting it. I wonder why they said that to you. | ||

Dang it Glenn.. Made me go look at mine! And it is a tad bit frayed too. Comparing the brakeline to my XB9R, it seems they might interchange. At any rate, getting one that is identical to the OEM will probably just fray it again. The XB setup was better, I think since it has the metal support at the caliper holding the line itself away from the fender. In the meantime, I think I'll try something like this | ||

You can get that spiral tubing wrap in different colors at scuba shops. Some people go nuts with that stuff on the regulator hoses. | ||

Asbjorn here is another pic of what I did.  Works well, and it's Buell to boot. It's a S3 brake line support (and a bit of small tubing). The S3's have one too many! Unklefester, it wasn't until after they ordered the part and then tried to find out what was taking so long (trace the part itself) that they got the unavailable notice. The SM thinks that Buell has been on this for awhile and is at the point of discontinuing the old part with a new one that is "not released" yet. Looking at the parts book shows the brake line shipping with the old bracket on it already so he might just be right. He says that they are checking every 1125 for this as they come in for the recall and every one has some damage to the brake line. I'd say everyone should look for this. I too thought "surely not on mine" until I looked and found the damage. It appears that the fender is harder than the brake line's outer jacket and the fender's casting edge scrapes off said jacket. When it gets to the braided armor the brake line starts to cut through the fender. I was reading the thread about the guys having the turn signal problems while my bike was sitting in the shop and sure enough I get it home today to find the left rear signal is dead. You guys need to quit posting this stuff! Everything you post happens to my bike. You are turning my bike into a hypo, ah, hypo, well whatever.  | ||

I think the fender could get caught in the gaps between the spirals with unpleasant results. Lots of force in that fender going up & down against something that it could eventually "latch" onto! No spiral wrap for me. The XB's lower support looked good but didn't look that doable in my garage so that's why I used the S3 part. | ||

Just got a call from the SM at my dealer. He just got off the phone with Buell tech. New "expected" release date of the front brake line is the 30th. It "might" be longer to reroute, prolly run just like in the CR pics. |
