Does switching your Cams from 2000 M2 to X1 cams produce more HP or just move the powerband higher?? Is it worth it?? I talked to a guy who has a 2002 X1 white lightning and he said his X1 is happiest above 3000 Rpm. |

F.I. and the cams are the only major differences between the two motors, so I would say yes, you should expect more power if you drop in the X1 cams. I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong........... |

You'll get more power. The UK versions of the M2 had the X1 cams stock. Check the dyno charts in the KV, there's one there of a straight-up cam swap from stock to the X1-type cams. |

The S1, S1W, X1, and S3 ( carbed and FI ) used the Screaming Eagle bolt in cam set; while the M2 used stock XL1200 cams. This gave the Lightnings and Thunderbolts more horsepower but the Cyclones and more torque. |

Joe58, that doesn't sound correct. I have road an XL1200 and it sure doesn't rip like my 02 M2. |

Hugie - WE are talking about diff. between X1 and M2 motors. There are A LOT of differences between an M2 motor and a Sportster. Flywheels, heads, higher compression, and a bike that is about 200 lbs lighter by the way - |

Thanks for the input and the advise. I went to KV and read almost everything. I decided to stay with the Stock Cams, I had the carb blueprinted and jetted. S&S Desperado Air cleaner. I am switching to D&D full exhaust from a White E-pipe. I have a Buell race ignition and Crane Fireball Coil. I think I will stay with the Low end torque and a wider more gradual power band up to 100Hp. It fits my riding style more. |
