I installed the headlight delay to take as much load of of the battery at start-up,especially after repeated starts in very hot weather. It is a small digital timer circuit and is very accurate. I also added a second light relay so when I turn on my High Beam switch both low and high beam headlights are ON, really lights up the road and down the road at night. |

No H-D kit, I assembled the circuit myself. I also installed blocking diodes so as to not back feed the primary lighting circuit. |

Hey Dean would you be interested in hooking a brother up and letting me know how you made your delay circuit? Parts list, schematic ect.. Or even better, making one and I'll buy it from you?? |

Yes, I will have to find my schematic when I get back to work and I will get back to you. |

Damn Dean, it looks like you do have "some" of the basics covered....LOL Where did you put the cup holder? ( I am kidding ) My bike is basically stock. new blinkers and paint. I am also interested in the lighting circuits. I would like both lights on for bright.. Only one question. For Court. Does this put enough strain on the charging system to warrant not doing it? "Wow I just read this thread and I have to say that I am amazed by the rudeness of some of the resident Badwebbers." Not for nothing, but you've been a bit abrupt with some responses too. Hurt my feelings and everything... |

"Remove the brake light, and put it elsewhere, install your 1.25" NACA DUCTS and be done with it." I didn't put a ton of effort into every detail of your queeries Deanbush, but based on your own findings, the recommedation above (or something similar to it) seems like a good place to start your project. |

??? When was that DJ? I don't recall calling you names or anything like that. I may throw out my thoughts but I don't think I have ever attacked someone on this board. If I have then may I be the first to apologize. Maybe I came across the wrong way but I never have any malice in any of my postings. |

"I don't recall calling you names or anything like that." Oh, you didn't call me a 'stupid head' or 'spinach brains' or anything like that... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=32777&post=1194246#POST1194246 ... but it hurt my feelings you didn't automatically accept what I was saying was the ultimate and inarguable truth in the known universe. That last part might be a problem with me, actually... ... but I digress. Get your ducts in a row, Deanbush, and ventilate your tail. As you can tell, I personally know a little something about hot air... |

I apologize for any gruff treatment intended or implied to anyone and everyone. I also would like to invite anyone and everyone to a nice ride in the mountains of North Georgia, say around October. Meet me and others in person, you'll see I'm really a nice guy, honest... Buelltoberfest shameless plug |

Maybe you did meet him. I think the first time I met Glitch, all memories from 1 day previous and 2 days afterwards were somehow eradicated from my ability to recollect them. |

Uhh... I didn't say anything about it being unimprovable at all... I even said there are improvements to be made... Listed a bunch even... I just was making the point that it's QUITE obvious that a LOT of thought was put into how to properly cool our engines. That's all. The firebolt was made to go, stop and turn. For the most part if it doesn't help attain those goals in some manner it's not there. The parts that need to be applied to cool THE RIDER are not 100K mile reliable and don't really help the engine much. I can see why Buell wouldn't mess with them. So they leave it to us. I'm OK with that. I've never said that the XB's are perfect. They're a DAMN fine bike though. |

maybe ill get to meet glitch this time, didnt get to meet him at mb5 MB5 was a wash wasn't it, I only rode from one end of TWO to the other. Ask anyone, that's a once in a life time thing! Unless we're counting the 50s! Maybe you did meet him. It's possible, I met sooo many people it's unreal. Buelltoberfest is less formal, and more relaxing, more riding too. I think the first time I met Glitch, all memories from 1 day previous and 2 days afterwards were somehow eradicated from my ability to recollect them. Good times! I've never said that the XB's are perfect. They're a DAMN fine bike though. Don, you've been one of the most outspoken here on BadWeB about the pros and cons of your Buelling. Never have you said it's a perfect bike. |

Not sure if Keith will be there or not. I've asked him every year for March Badness, no can make it, he was invited to Buelltoberfest last year, he couldn't make it then either. I hope he'll come this year. Come on down either way, I want to shake your hand, we've "known" each other for years, and never met. |

I'm going to do my best to be at MBVI next year, too. Here's hoping the weather on my end of things cooperates. Winter's been hanging on later and later every year, it seems. I've been caught in the snow before, it's not something I'm interested in repeating. >.< It'll be September before I make a decision on heading down in October, I think. August is just too busy to worry about it for the moment. |

I have been working out of town and I have not yet been back to the shop to get the schematic. And I have to leave next Tuesday to go to a customer to do some modifications. So hopefully I can get the ball rolling Friday. The timer circuit is not part of the dual head light circuit, and the spec's on the XB12ss note that the generator output is rated at 38 amps. The calculated current draw for a 55w bulb is 4.6 amps so for 2 that is 9.2 amps. I also run a standard LED replacement Brake light bulb so I thank the generator can handle the load. |

If you want to go ahead with building a timer circuit just Google " ne555 timer circuits" and you can go from there. Used the Engine ON/OFF toggle button to start the timer and mine is set at approx 18 seconds. This way when you turn ON ignition key switch to check mileage etc. the low beam not come on until you move the Engine switch to run and the timer times out. |
