i have been trying to find the source of the off idle flat spot on my 08 and have been blaming it on the map...some days its worse that others, but damn aggravating... so i had the local dealer guru look at it and he said he thought it ran good... well, on the way home, it did run good.. so, i wiped the egg off my face... the next day, it would hardley idle and i had to slip the clutch to get it rolling...so im back to square one... then, i pulled the cover off to see if the new spark plug wires were rubbing like the last ones did and zipped it back up... well, low and behold, it ran like a different bike... that lasted a couple of days and again im riding a slug at low speeds and it stalls when cold... off comes the cover again and i go over it with a flashlight and a fine tooth comb, looking for chaffed wires...i find two with rubs, but still insulated.. back on the road and its a good bike for one day and back to the slug category... i got down on my hands and knees and once more, nothing... so now im thinking that although the map is too lean, ive got a gremlin that i cant find... no rubbed wires loose connections (i pulled the battery and put electric grease on the cable connections, at the frame and the battery, as sometimes it takes a few tries to start... i dont know where else to look... the dealers computer is showing alls well...damn, damn , damn.. at this point, im open to other theories.. |

Florida, how's the humidity? Dew in the morning? WD40 the entire ignition sequence. If that works, you're looking for cracks in the system or simply a connection that's not as sealed as you thought it was. |

There is an 08 flash available from the dealer that is supposed to help. Here. |

Do the 08's have the engine temp sensor on the rear head? May be that when you move the base is disturbs the wiring. |
