If i was to use the xb12 pistons with my xb9 crank setup...what kind of ratio will I be getting out of that? |

I think you want to go the other way around. |

not if your doing a turbo setup on the bike...which is what im doing..im just trying to figure out the easiest way to get a lower compression..around a 9:1 compression |

I thought the 984cc engine was a combination of using the 883 crank and rods with the 1203cc pistons? So I think you already have them in your engine. or I could be completely wrong |

not to put you down i think that might be wrong...i believe the pistons in general are different due to domed top on xb9 and im not to sure about the 12 pistons thats why im trying to figure that out |

XB9 pistons are domed. XB12 are flat tops. Difference in displacement is in stoke, so the 9 pistons on a 12 crank bumps compression to around 12 to 1. |

yes i know that...im asking the other way around...12 pistons in a 9...with the xb9 crank setup..im only tryin to find out the compression if i put the xb12 pistons in place of the 9 pistons |

Stick with the 9 pistons. You'd have the rough equivalent of the compression a 1950 flathead makes |

but im also putting a turbo on the bike thats why im going for lower compression so you suggest i stay with the 9 pistons even wen i turbo the bike? ericz told me that he can rougly get 6 pounds of boost on stock motor with no problem im looking to push from 5-15 pounds. so lower compression is only better in this case |

I've got no experience with throwing a turbo on these engines, so I'm going to defer to others on that subject. If you are looking for lower compression, then the 12 pistons on a 9 crank will do that. I don't know the exact ratio, but I can see what I can come up with. |

money is an object to everyone...some people just found the right way to make money to have extra money to spend on what they will...and i choose to spend it on my ls1 swapped 944 turbo...my buell..and my house...and when you know people...family who are machinest there is no charge...family love thats all |

I recommend that no one else attempt to help ridrnkink18 because the "knowledge in our heads means nothing" according to his post on a different thread. Let him twist in the wind, spend your time helping people that will appreciate it. |

hey...noone said i dont appreciate everyone comments...i just dont appreciate the smart *** comments that people have to make about me believing the bike will do 200..you all have knowledge i know sorry to put anyone down...because you do know more than i do...i just have a way of making things fast...and i usually can..so i m sorry for being a pain just dont give me crap wen i say it will do 200 cause it will! haha and if noone wants to give me any info dont...i could probably figure it out myself anyway...not that i dont have it figured out i just like to hear peoples opinions that might change my mind on how to do it...thanks though have a nice day |

I've seen worse. The internets is full of trolls. So sad, can't escape them. So what is the compression ratio going to be? Since you have it figured out. Or is it top secret? (Message edited by mr2shim on July 17, 2008) |

XB9 - Dome Piston - 10:1 compression XB12 - Flat top - 10:1 compression XB9 w/XB12 piston - 8:1 compression This compression ratio will work perfect for a turbo |

im shootin for 8:1 or 9:1 exactly why i was asking for the ratioe of xb12 piston in xb9 motor...listen darthane for the last time....talk all you want...be a smart*** and make comments because you must be "so good at building bikes" i dont see you going for something crazy. atleast im attempting something not many people can do. but im sure your an amazing mechanic and know everything...so go "snort" whatever it is you were snortin and stop sayin things to me like that |

i dont see you going for something crazy. atleast im attempting something not many people can do. Actually, all you've done is talk about on the internet. No results, no pictures, nothing.... Words on a computer screen. Just shut up. You're just burning bridges. You Are = you're Sorry, that just really annoys me. Someone claiming to know so much but can't even use 1st grade grammar. |

dude do you think i really care...its the same thing you can use it either way...someone who gets annoyed over some grammar is obviously childish grow up i told you im not putting any pictures on and idc if you want me to to show "proof" because i DO NOT want to until i am done with the build. so eat what your saying to me and DON'T bother saying something else |

Me, a master mechanic? Not even close, but then *I'M* not the one claiming completely outrageous things while refusing to produce even a shred of proof. Thus far your proof consists of a cell phone picture of a bike, which might not even be yours to begin with. DON'T bother saying something else Seems to me you need to take your own advice, sonny. |

Compression Ratio = (cyV+clV+pcV+gV+chV)/(clV+pV+gV+chV) If you were to simply swap XB9 pistons (+12.3cc dome) with XB12 flat pistons (Assuming about -3cc for valve reliefs), in a stock bore and stroke engine, you'd get about 8:1 comp ratio. However, a 3.8125" Big Bore kit with reverse dome -6.8cc pistons (I believe that the piston that comes with most XB12 88" kits to attain 10.5:1 cr) would put you at 8.86:1, which I think would be ideal. Calculations also assume stock 62cc size combustion chambers and .030" head gaskets. |

Why would you wait until you were done to take pictures? Some of the best threads on this board are literally nothing but pictures of the process. Take a look at the "XB-Blast: It has begun!" thread - perfect example. Not only does the author get to share the joy of the creative process with everyone, but he also gets a lot of feedback on what he's doing - both in the 'moral support' sense as well as with the actual details of what he's doing. There are a lot of very smart people on this board with a huge amount of experience and knowledge about a very wide range of subjects, and your attitude is just making it harder and harder for them to even take you seriously in the first place, let alone help you. ...then again, you obviously don't need the help, since you're such a wizard...remind me again why you keep asking questions when you already know it all? |

Message board arguments always amaze me. I don't understand why anyone cares what anyone else does....So what if he is or is not actually building a turbo bike. So what if he acts like he knows it all...I just don't get it. I guess I'd rather waste my time with more productive means. But if you all find it fun to argue about nothing on a message board than so be it. To each thier own I guess. Good luck with the build. Hope you complete it and post some pics and stats when its finished. |
