Guys- NO commmon milkweed in either tahiti or saipan...or anyhwere in the S. or central pacific, frankly" I ruled out my own guess after I realized there is no wild coffee in Saipan. However, there is milkweed in Saipan, although it may not be of the variation in the picture. |

The invasive milkweed (narrow-leafed, orange/red flowered) you see in the Marianas, etc., is Asclepias curassavica; Common Milkweed (as pictured in that shot, and seen all over N. America))is Asclepias syriaca. |

Asclepias syriaca That sounds like something you would need a shot of penicillin for... why does it burn when I pee??? |

Thanks for the Milkweed clarification. Anything we can do to educate each other is a huge help...I don't get the michael savage reference, unless there's some lesser-known ms who's a forensic botanist} |

Michael Savage "Explosive conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage continues to dominate the airwaves with his brash commentary and unapologetic solutions. The 10 million listeners who tune into Savage each week can't be wrong! Turn on WOR in New York, KNEW in San Francisco, WKRO in Boston, or hundreds of other stations nationwide. Trained as a scientist, he holds Master’s degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in Epidemiology and Nutritional Science. He spent decades searching and saving tropical rainforests." |

Thanks, Ferris- that would explain it, as I avoid both political extremes in my radio-listening. "Medical botanists" tend toward the highly-conservative end of the spectrum, in general, as they are drafted, en masse, as big-ticket consultants to the pharmacological empire, and have a distinctive take on "saving" the rain forests. Forensic biology, by contrast, is a limited, small-ticket market that really requires a night-job.... Unless one is a DOD/intel contractor, identifying bird/amphibian calls in the background of 'bad-guy' audio and vid. |

I don't think he said what time zone the noon was referenced to. I'll vote Guam, for no particular reason. |
