I've been racing with CCS for a couple years now on an SV and the one thing that I've noticed since getting into this is how much support Buell gives you guys. I think its absolutely great. I rode a race prepped buell last weekend at a trackday for a session and after riding that and racing at Road America over the 4th of July I've decided its time to get rid of the SV and get a buell to race next year. I'll probably finish out the year on the SV, sell it and start looking for one over the winter. So if anyone knows of a race prepped buell thats for sale let me know . I Look forward to getting to know some of you guys and start picking some brains when it comes time to start building my bike for next year. |

WOW!! If you even THINK you might be interested, Bartels racing is selling both their XB bikes and concentrating entirely on the 1125R. It might be a good way to get going without putting TONS of money into an XB and then converting it. They have an XBRR engine in an XB12 chassis and the second bike is an XB9 bored out to 3 13/16 (1169cc) Check CCS class rules carefully, the 1169cc engine mods might be disallowed in some classes. |

Let me see if I can get you a number. I know they were willing to sell BOTH for $15K - but that deal fell through. I'm at work - the only number I have is for the Bartels HD/Buell main office. http://bartelsharley.com/ You can call and ask to be transferred to Bill Bartels. You can leave him a phone number. Problem is going to be shipping - that'll add another $600-$700 unless you know somebody heading your way from CA. Also - if he is willing to sell them separately, you might see if the XB has been rebuilt or just put together. I know that the engine was just pulled open, inspected and reassembled but I'm thinking it didn't require any internal re-work. Suspension is stock. Call and if it sounds interesting, let me know. Their mechanic for Race Team lives a mile from me, I can ask him what was done the last time he put it together. By the way, Bartels will ONLY sell them to a racer. Doubt that they are register-able any longer (no VINs) |

Dan, I'll put in a few dollars on the dual Buell deal. I'll miss everyone at the next Blackhawk though. |

I happen to be in San Diego right now and I could probably be convinced to add another bike to my trailer for the trip back to Missouri, but I won't be headed back until the 2nd week of August. I live about an hour and a half west of you in Mexico MO and as many on here can attest I'm a "stand-up guy". (Plus I enjoy helping other Buellers) (Message edited by diablobrian on July 16, 2008) |

Just pm me or email me (check the bottom of my profile page) and I'll have a phone number for you by then. I don't like posting up my phone or email for the "bots" to snag. Obviously I'm not at home right now, but my home phone number is on there too (Message edited by diablobrian on July 16, 2008) |

I got your email. I'm heading out the door RIGHT NOW for the ride up to Laguna Seca. I'll talk to Earl Kellerman - he's been Bartels "chief wrench" on the racing side of the house for almost 25 years... he'll know what all's been done to the motor. I know it has the short stroke/big bore motor. Not sure which ECM it has. If it is running the legit Buell Race ECM - that is what I'd think. It probably has the older software version. PLENTY good for tuning. I'll also shoot Jeff Ecklund an email. He did most of the tuning with me when I first set up my bike and we both learned LOTS about tuning these motors. REGARDLESS - you ought to do a couple pulls just to see if the A/F is about right. You'll likely need help with the first couple tuning sessions if you haven't run the software for that module. Pretty simple when it's explained but it's confusing if you're trying to figure it out yourself. AGain, the short stroke/big bore is (in my opinion) a more useful motor in club racing. With more cams, valves and compression it'll do 100 HP. Mine will still do 97 on pump gas. I won't bump the compression up past 10.5 because I just can't use the extra power and I still like the option of using non-race gas. More later. Sunny's gonna kill me for being on the net. I'll shoot you both my phone numbers in PMs |
