My seventeen year old son has been riding four wheelers, three wheelers, my dirt bike, and my wife's Blast around the field and on off road trips to the mountains for about four years now. He has dumped the bikes a couple of times during his learning curve.

Last year he did a near endo on the blast when confidence over rode caution in the grass when he hit a hole in the ground at about twenty mph. For a while after he paid for the parts($65.00) he hasn't been too interested in getting back on.

Since Maximum's Homecoming adventure with his son, which I shared to its conclusion with my son, has sparked his interest in trying the road.

In the area in which we live the back roads are connected to back roads that do not go anywhere, but they are paved nicely. We went out for his first paved adventure. He has been a licensed driver for a couple of years and has always driven standard transmission vehicles so that and his off road experience makes a good beginner rider.

I wanted him to try a trip on pavement before signing him up for the classes. I gave him several pointers as we went along. Every stop sign was an opportunity to explain some new to him facet of road riding.

It went very well. When we stopped at his sisters house I asked him what he thought and all I got was a big grin for an answer. On the way back we got up a little speed on the main road getting back to our driveway and I haven't seen him grin and laugh like that for a long time. He even called his mom to thank her for sharing her Blast. Her response was something about putting gas back in it.

Now we will be setting up classes and getting his endorsement. Oh what a can of worms I opened up.

I can and can't wait for when my two boys are big enough to ride. I'm gonna dread and love the experience.

Great story. Sounds like your Boy has a great Dad.

Congrates Vern

Congratulations!
One of the greatest feelings in the world is when you go out for your first real ride with your daughter or son.
