Today(Sunday), my wife, my son and his gilrfreind along with her family(from Sweden on a visit) and myself went on a boat trip to this inlet on the west coast of B.C called the Kutzmateen. Its a native indian name and I probably spelled it wrong..sigh.. Anyhow, this place is wild and untouched by man. Only way you can get there is by boat and , because its a sanctuary for wildlife, you cant get out of the boat. Probably wouldnt want to either as there is a lot of grizzly bears there. I took a lot of pics but these two were the best. This first one is a Mama griz and her cub. She was wary of the boat, even though it wasnt running and we drifted in towards her. They(the grizzlys) seem to be more tolerant of humans because of no interaction of an unfavorable kind, due to their extreme isolation.
This next picture answers the age old question.."Does a bear shit in the woods?"
The whole trip was excellent and if you are ever up this way, youd be wise to take this trip. I even got a whale picture on the way back.

Wow, I couldn't even imagine a day like that. Seeing a Grizzly and her cub, then seeing a whale, not only seeing but photographing them. Thank you for sharing and answering the age old adage. |
