Crap - have told myself that I do not need a new XT as my XB9R is a heck of a ride. This show might just have changed everything.

Found it to be a bit dull. Much like sitting around looking at someone's vacation photos. So nice to have a chase van carrying all your gear so you don't have to actually carry anything on a 4 day road trip.

for those of us that have one, it's pretty cool that they pretty much gave it a thumbs up. just caught bits and pieces(loading the xt up to go back to tampa while i wait for work to start) but when they talked about any other time they did this someone dropped a bike and this time they seemed to have had a good run then that just helps solidify what kind of bike they are. this is only my opinion from what i caught of it.

A little bland but good, anyone notice they had corbin black seats on the orange bikes.
Guess that is why the corbin newsletter that the OP mentioned.

The show got at least 3 threads here alone.

The chase vans were a bit lame, Feasting on Asphalt loaded their bikes despite having camera vans.

Yep, here's one thread:

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142838/375369.html?1215881606

I've seen the other 3 episodes of the show (they seem to pop up every month or so), and they ALL have that lame-o dialog:

"Well, it started to get cold, so we put on sweaters. The sweaters we put on were great. I really loved the sweaters we had. I just wanted to, you know, WEAR them. So we put them on."

"The scenery was beautiful. The sky was blue, and so was the water."

"We HAD to get to [the next city] - we had a lot of miles to cover! We had hotel reservations."

"So we got back on the bikes and rode. I mean it was like, RIDING. The bikes just rode! I loved the Ulysses - it was like a bike that I could really ride. My father said that he really could ride this bike, and I had to agree. It was like, yeah, we really should be riding. So, we tried to do as much riding as we could. I mean, that's what the trip was about, so we really got on the bikes and really just RODE. You know, just really got out there and RODE them and then headed up this road, and then we came up to a town, which we rode through. The houses there were really like houses that you might find elsewhere."

"It was JUST like being in Europe, except it was north of America. Everything was European, but it wasn't. It was like we were in Paris, but we were nowhere NEAR Paris. I've never been to Paris. Everything was like France, but it was America. Or at least really close to America."

I made up all of the above, but you get the idea.

And those Joe Rocket gloves they were endorsing are NOT all-weather. I wore the same ones in Scotland for 8 days in all kinds of weather. Thank god the bike I rented (BMW R850R) had heated grips, so at least I had WARM soggy hands!

They could have said MUCH more about the bikes, like they did in previous episodes: no mention of the triple tail, fuel-in-frame, powerful front brake, V-twin, dual power outlets, underslung muffler, hand guards, etc., but I guess they were balancing the content between bike and destination. They appeared to be 07s or 06s - the primary cover was the old round style.

Did anyone notice that there was almost NO sound of a fan on the show? Near the end, as they stopped for a last fill-up, you could hear it, but they did not mention it. It really wasn't a product demo. Either way, I LOVED seeing my bike on TV and I think Buell should bend over backward to do shows like this ("American Thunder", "Super Bikes", etc.). I think people want something different - we've all said that we're amazed at the questions we get from strangers: "What is that!?!" That's cool, but we also want potential buyers to see Buell as something other than a mysterious niche brand (admittedly, part of its allure, and part of why I ride one).

I'm glad they displayed up the trail-riding capabilities - that was really entertaining, especially when one of the riders nearly bailed...having a couple more inches of inseam would have helped, despite the lower seats. I spent Saturday on dirt roads in rural VA, so I got my fix this weekend - lots of gravel roads through the countryside. Awesome.

VA

Anyway, the location of the episode was great. Quebec is HIGH on my list for a fall trip this year - I'll probably rent a bike in Manchester (probably a Honda ST1300 to try something different) and head up - I just don't have the time to ride all the way on the Uly. My girlfriend watched the show with me and was VERY salty because she knows I plan to go solo (at least the first time). Sometimes a man needs to disappear on his bike for awhile and go someplace new.

Anyway, overall the show was a great thing for Buell. Does anyone know how it was arranged? Do the riders run the show and pick the bikes, or do they wait for the manufacturers to make a pitch?

Seriously, was I the only one to get goosebumps when I heard them start the Uly up on TV, and it sounded JUST LIKE MINE?

That was funny Hooper, dead on.

I noticed the fan a few times and kind of laughed to myself.

I always find it funny when I smell coolant while riding the uly in traffic and realize it can't be me.

It was still nice to see someone give the uly a good review.

At least they didn't crash or drop the uly's!

You must be mental......I do that too!

I thought the show was pretty good also. Having watched a few of Dennis Gage's shows, it followed his pattern and style. As I was watching, seeing all of the camera angles and setup spots, I realized that has to be a lot of work to get all of that and more on film in four days. For me and many of us, the actual ride would have been done in a day or two.

I kept waiting for the hammer to drop. I was expecting one of those "I like the Ulysses, but....". Apparently no one instructed them on the gas situation. And I thought it was funny when they were at the station filming with the fans running.

Good job though!

I rode the road king to Quebec in June with my brother and brother-in-law. It is beautiful. If you go in the fall, take some warm clothes. I wore a rain suit with a heavy sweater underneath or my leather jacket the entire time. I didn't go coatless until i left my brothers home in Maryland heading south to Carolina. The locals told us they really only have 3 months of riding season. The locals were great, very friendly people. Most of them speak enough english to allow you to get by without french. And the women there are absolutely beautiful; very healthy. It's amazing how the "scenery" changes in the few miles it takes to leave Quebec and enter Maine. Anyway, it was great and i would recommend it highly.
