ok the chop is very simple. tools used: masking tape hack saw die grinder sharpy 80 grit sandpaper and the random tools to remove the tail light assembly and plastic tail section 1.remove seat, tail, and light assembly 2.remove red lens from tail light 3.with tail set into place hold lens against the subframe and up against the tail 4.trace lens on underside of tail 5.drill a few holes through the tail on the line, i did 5, at the ends and 3 along the middle 6.now apply masking tape and use the hole's as guide 7.trace the holes with the sharpy then give it a nice taper at the ends( the "sides" of the tail) 8.cut along the line with a hack saw 9.smooth with a die grinder 10.finish with 80 grit sand paper 11. now you will notice that the black light mount is way to long 12.cut the mount so that the vertical part of the light mount is up snug against the sub frame 13.drill new holes in the plastic mount through the existing holes in the sub frame 14.re-assemble everything i just happen to make the taper on the tail end right where the black tail light mount is. it looks really clean and most people don't notice its not stock, but notice that something looks different. the pegs are off of an 93 fzr 600. i have been looking around and most all pegs will fit ours with slight modification.but the passenger pegs are solid at the base so they only work in the rear. the front pegs off the same bike have a nice spring slot so removing the spring and widening the slot just a bit, they would work on our front. i'm getting a set of these very soon  | ||

Very nice - I have a silver set, minus the hanger that screws in, I run a large bolt through the Banke Peg frame into the hole that mounts the peg adapter - the shiny part - lol - shrinks the peg up for ground clearance - the black looks nice - cool - could you repost that in the TKV Bodywork - Tail section - its a great write up on what to do and should be preserved -  as they look today. New to the forum and to Blasts, but seeing all the tail mods, I was wondering if anyone has found a way to graft one of the triple tails off a Uly onto a Blast. Seems like it would be handy. | ||

Hey Twisty, its been discussed here before, you CAN NOT, I MEAN CAN NOT, turn the fender around, there is an arrow on the inside of the fender and you WILL set the entire world askew and the delicate Blast Mojo will be upset until it is returned to its proper direction. Please Please, for the Love of Blastaholics everywhere, keep your front fender going in the proper direction! This is a very important feature and should be listed at the heading of the Knowledge Vault under the Body section. The friggin mosquitos are out in force and now I am going to have to make a few trips around the "Old Oak Tree" just in case...... | ||

Twisty, Not trying to be mean or anything, but if it didn't affect Blasting Mojo for the rest of us, it wouldn't bother us. Let me offer a suggestion,(Now that I am over my shock and disbelief) If you want to "Show more tire" you are allowed to remove the fender altogether ala Tramp, or you can modify the fender by trimming or chopping it to suit your taste, but for the love of God, Do Not turn your fender around! | ||

I'm guessing the one without the numbers too! Reuel: LOL! That pic was taken when Jprovo and I actually got to do a track day together. The fairing improves things above 'naked'. I usually strip the lights off the streetBlast because it takes the same amount of time as taping them up and they wont get broken in a fall. I'm still too slow and dizzy to race. The other exhaust is a V & H with KromeWorks Dyna muffler (aftermarket HD muffler that would fit most HDs). Oh and FWIW, James (jprovo) spanked me and faster bikes on the track and made it look easy. The other 2 Blasters that day spanked many much faster bikes. Favourite quote of the day (or maybe ever) "we're going to have to move the Blasts up a class, they're just too fast"! True. | ||

Hmmm - XB chassis, shock, suspension - 16" wheels - hmm - just a thought, part of the reason formula bikeswhere such tight handlers is tire size - and I'm sure Erik's trio of tech had something to do as well - still it makes one think - If you where looking for that true paved goat trail bike -( my favorite!) - that could be the answer. Finally, here are the latest pics with the new hand controls as promised.   As you can see I took off the flyscreen too but I don't know if I like it yet or not... Saturday AM I'm gonna get brave and see if I can't adjust the primary and get rid of the EPA-oil-vent-into-the-carb device. | ||

If I was still riding all winter, I'd wonder how much they cost. They look sharp, too! I forgot how funny the stock mirrors look!  I've had my bar end mirrors for almost 2 years, and just yesterday I discovered that I can turn the mirrors themselves, not just the mount in the handlebars. How's that for  ? He he he, so THATs what that smilely is there for... Yeah the stock mirrors are pretty bad. I usually wear a full face helmet but I acquired a 1/2 coverage one, like one who rides cruisers may wear, and I was thinking that during my yearly trip to Disneyland this October I need to get a hold of some of those mouse ears and retrofit them to the 2nd helmet. That way the bike and I are more coordinated. | ||

Nice...I love the dual round tail lights...kinda Corvette-ish!  Where in the world did you find a bungie net for a bike big enough to wrap around that suitcase?? Mine would sit and laugh at me if I ever attempted to strap on something that large!  | ||

I thought I would post the bikes the Big Kid is bringing home. They are mostly "Shop Bikes" Ones that have been wrecked and fixed, and he gets to ride them to help shake down any problems there might be with them. The last big Honda he brought home someone adjusted the rear brake too tight to the point that it was smoking. Not to loose the integrity of the Blast picture thread, I will always try to include a Blast in the picture.  Some big Honda with a big dent in the tank ! | ||

I strapped the suitcase on with 3 long bungee cords, like 3 or 4 feet long before stretching, wrapped around & around the tail as tight as it would go. The bungee net was just for "extras", like some rope I forgot to pack, holding my gloves at gas stops, plastic water bottles if I don't drink it all at once, etc. It's just hooked over the edge of the plastic - not enough to hold anything much. It's a combination of two bungee nets - I got a black one with nice plastic hooks at cycle gear for $4, and a camoflage one at harbor freight, which was slightly larger than normal and with slightly thicker bungee material. The elastic from the black one went to hell almost immediately, and a few of the rubber tips came off the wire hooks on the camo one, so I put the nice plastic hooks on the big beefy camo net and it's held up pretty well. OMG! she just gets cuter every time I look - maybe it's the Blasts... LOL (Message edited by berkshire on July 28, 2008) |
