Not to sound cold, but this was his fault, and could have been avoided. It's to bad however. At least he wasnt taken out by a friggen car that didnt see them, like some very close people I know. When it's your fault it's one thing, but if it's that driver that decides to pull out instead of look is a whole different story. | ||

Hit a sign hard enough to amputate his arm, the bike came to rest 2 blocks further down the street, and the police *suspect* speed was a factor? I feel for everyone involved...but as mentioned above, this was a clearcut case of bad judgement. My condolences to the family of the driver, and my sincere hope that the passenger pulls through - for her sake, and for the sake of the drivers family. | ||

My condolences as well. Doing dumb things can be very tempting. I was going to take my track school in September but moved it up to the end of this month because I was getting antsy and starting to do things I knew were bad judgment. Now that I know I will have a chance to let loose on the track I'm riding much more conservatively. Judgment is at least partially a learned skill, if not entirely and I'm thankful that I picked up enough judgment to keep me alive and to recognize when it's failing me. Common sense is the rarest of abilities. It's almost a super-power. | ||

Condolences to the Family and Friends We have all cranked on it and thought wow that was stupid. We own a wonderful motorcycle that is very powerful. Hopefully I will think before I yank on the throttle next time. My Helmet off and head held low in a moment of silence and respect for one of our fellow riders. I wonder if there is Buells in Heaven? | ||

My condolences as well. We have all done stupid things but i believe it is how and where we decide to do them that makes a difference. Gents, if you are going to push the limit, please just make sure when it decides to push back you are on forgiving grounds. I'm sure he passed with a smile on his face from this wonderful machine. Deepest Regards to the Family&Friends and All to who knew him. I pray the passenger recovers. This will resinate with me everytime I ride and think about ''threading the needle'' between traffic or anything else careless, I have a close family, daughter, nephew and nieces that I would leave behind b/c of my carelessness. Very eye opening and heart tugging news. Darwin and Gravity are always at work. | ||

In this case the only wrong is likely the deceased fault but we can all learn from his passing. | ||

This news has to be disheartning to anyone at the factory. You know there's got to be more than one person there who had pondered how long it would take for someone to get killed on the new bike. And for it to happen right in Wisconsin to boot. | ||

few factors to consider in this: 1) Wet roadway - 2) Obvious high speeds 3) Possibility/ probability alcohol was involved 4) High performance motorcycle ridden by young rider. This is the recipe for disaster. In all the motorcycle involved crashes I have investigated, or assisted in investigating, only 2 were not the motorcycle rider's fault. (one of which, SHOULD have been avoided by the rider if he was riding smart). My sincere condolences go out to the family of the rider. We all joke about pushing the limit on our bikes. I am not completely innocent when it comes to mine. Lets try to keep out balls in our pockets and save it for the track to really push the limits. In the meantime, these bikes are fun as hell to ride even when we are behaving. Stay safe guys, let's move on and have fun. | ||

Squid for sure...jsut cause he rides the 1125r doesn't make him bit different...matter of fact you can probably count on more squids to join the ranks as now Buell offers a bike that satisfies the power demand. This one is 100% rider error...the ones that freak me out are the unavoidable ones that can happen to any of us at any time. | ||

It would take a serious amount of speed and hard riding to be the 5th gear issue, and that scene appeared to me to be quite residential. I seriously doubt that was the cause, especially with a passenger in tow. I hope the passenger makes a full recovery, and my deepest sympathies to the family & friends of the rider. | ||

I'm sure he passed with a smile on his face from this wonderful machine. Nope... no freaking way. I've been on the edge of control and beyond in motorcycles and aircraft and at NO TIME was I ever thinking, "Hey, this is so cool, I'm gonna get killed doing something I really love." Nice sentiment but I have to say it's bullsh!t. I hate to see the myth of being killed "doing something you loved" being perpetuated. ME? I'd rather die in bed. |
