I've noticed that new front tires don't come with much tread at all. New ones look damn near worn out! How far down is too far? So when do YOU replace. |

When the new ones arrive! That of course is when the cords start showing through the smooth tread. |

I'll let the rear go down to the cords. My fronts wear out on the sides first, so it gets changed sooner. |

This is what my rear tire looked like when a section of cords started showing. Not much there! |

Forgot to get close ups photos of them, but swapped my scorpion syncs tonight with new ones on new rims. 18k on the front, 11k on the rear. They are so square i am thinking of putting them on my car. |

I generally wait until the wear markers show. Usually they're already rock hard, slippery, and cracked on the sidewalls at that time. I've worn a set of tires nearly to the cords once and nearly killed myself having to emergency brake at 65mph in the rain. The tank slapper was so bad my pegs folded up against the pavement and my right foot got crunched. My tires wear evenly and both the front and rear wear out at the same rate making for quite an expense. My Syncs were the longest lasting tires I've used and they only lasted around 5K miles |

"Not much there!" That's plenty... but you know it's time if you can see the air inside. |
