Rick A, I used to live in a condo located in an exclusive area in metro Atlanta. They didn't allow motorcycles or trucks either. It was clearly stated in the lease and they were adamant about keeping the "wrong" element out of their community. They flat out asked me if I owned either one before I signed the lease. At the time, I didn't; I had a Z/28 Camaro. They deemed this appropriate (barely) and let me sign the lease. What I didn't tell them was that I was rebuilding the engine at a friend's repair shop. My friend let me use a spare bay and even lent me one of his shop vehicles (he was a very good friend!). You should have seen the look on my neighbor's faces when I parked a 1970 Dodge Panel Van next to their BMWs, Volvos and Mercedes. The van had been rolled at one point and every body panel was creased and dented - roof included. All the doors, except the rear ones, had to be welded shut. The van was three different shades of green and had been upholstered in green shag carpeting. You could still see where a huge peace sign was painted on the side. We called it the "Hippy Dippy Van". The mufflers where rotted out and the engine burned lots of oil. The smoke screen that eminated from the rear use to alternate colors - blue for the first 5 minutes, then black. The only thing that really worked well was the quadraphonic sound system. The management at the condominium was displeased to say the least (leased?) I couldn't live there now, not with my Buell on the back of my GMC pick-up... |

More and more places are resorting to rules like this. In order for me to keep the Buell at the complex I have to lease a carport to park it under. I guess I am one of the undesirable elements in life. they really loved it when I pulled up on the bike to pay the rent....... Loki |

I dated a girl who live in one of those neighborhoods, not just being unallowed to keep a bike there but no visitors' bikes either. I used to love taking her home at 3am the LONG way thru the neighborhood on a rumbling American V-twin. Guess I didn't help things, huh? It's sad that certain modes of viable transport are discriminated against. It should be illegal for them to do so. Perhaps "profiling" would be a good word to throw around. Lawyers are having a field day with that one since 9/11 and airport security has increased. I can even recall a certain part of Nebraska that forced me to turn around and go back where I came from. I was a little young and stupid to argue so I did, but I would think that any time the Federal goverment provides highway funding, everyone who pays applicable taxes should be allowed to use it. I was part of a mass lawsuit last year in my neighborhood against the Homeowners association. The pet rule states that no more than 2 cats and 2 dogs may reside in a residence for a total of 4, but not 4 of each. A woman's cat had kittens and one of the neighborhood busybodies somehow saw the litter thru this person's window. The HOA put a lein on their house. Not being a fan of children, I suggested to the lawyers that it should also be illegal to have more than 2 kids in a household. Or at least, you can have 2 boys and 2 girls but no more than 2 of each. The busybody has 3 girls. It was suggested in court that she should give up one of her girls for adoption. Needless to say after 2 weeks of this mess regarding politics and religion, the rules lightened up and the woman was afterwards charged with tresspassing and mischievous conduct. Then she was removed from the board. I guess the best thing to do is boycott all places that don't allow motorcycles. I do unless I can't help it. Maybe we should become naturalized citizens so the rules won't apply to us anymore. We've learned that you don't need to be a citizen to get free health care and other handouts from the USA. Maybe it's our turn. |

My feelings on the subject are this. I paid the taxes on my bike, I have current plates on it, ot is registered as a motor vehicle legal for use in the USA & I will ride & park it any damn place I want. I will be damned if any housing committee or such is gonna tell me what I can or cannot own, drive, park, etc in my place of residence. I believe it was in Arlington Heights, west of chicago..I could be wrong on the suburb..that a few years back..wanted to eliminate people from parking pickups in their own driveways. Now I am not talking about condo units, these are privately owned homes they were going after. It brought an undesireable element to the area & didnt look ggod was their argument..Screw them. Then you had the wheenies in the Hi-rises near Lakeshore drive that wanted to ban all motorcycle traffic. Thats when the courts or whomever stepped in & said, no-no. Any federal or I believe even state hi-ways cannot be segregated as such. Why dont people just mind their own business & quit worrying about what everyone else is doing or driving? My brother-inlaw lived in an apt complex for a couple years & his car started getting rusty. The owners told him he would have to fix it or move. They actually had a clause that prohibited ugly cars. He was buying a house soon so he never persued it any further. Appears to me that would be discrimination against poor people. What if you cant afford to have your car beautified? |

I guess I'm one of those punks when it comes to vehicle storage. It was STRONGLY suggested by the management at my apartment complex that I rent a garage for my stuff. It was my intent all along, but I was too busy getting settled in with work and all to visit the office. Guess the sight of my beat up Oldsmobile, a 4'x8' utility trailer chained to a parking block and my Buell all parked in a row weren't too pleasing to them. Sorta hard to hide, all 3 with PA plates, and I'm in Iowa... Ever seen a guy who really wants a parking spot try to move a trailer with a 200 lb parking block attached to it? Wish I had a camera. |

Calling Capt'n Pete: Uh...what are we smokin' Capt'n? You ordered your TEAM ELVES fine textile goods and provide the following address: Post Office Box USA Well guess what Einstein?. . . . I beleieved in you, went to bat for you and argued your case to no avail. The Postal Worker at the post office on 3rd Avenue and 55th is adament that there are MORE than ONE Capt'n Pete's, and that Post Office Box & USA need to be further refined. We have, as I see it, two choices, either you provide me QUICK with a better address or you come to NYC and we go kick some postal worker ass... Now make it quick before I fine you.... Court |

Doctor, Doctor, Give me the cure I gotta a bad case of loving Buells. Yesterday I decided I needed a mental health day. Beautiful day! Temp was in the upper 70's. Went into the twisties around Silver City and the Gila on my M-2. Bike was running really well, 80- 90 mph on the straights not nearly that fast in the twisties. Any way great day of about 400 miles. I was in search of the best Mexican food I could find and I must say I tried a few places along the way. I proablly should have reset my suspension after all the food I ate! Boy do I love New Mexico green chile. Anyway on the way home I stopped in the city of crosses and the next thing I know I'm at the dealership and 30 min. later a new xb9r is coming to my garage. I will blame all of this on the bad web. Anyway when I got home I knew I was in trouble, the wife said the bike or her has to go, damn I'm going to miss my wife. Just kidding she was cool considering I was supposed to buy another car instead. So anyhow, keep the shine on your bikes but ride like your in a jail break! Dean |

One of the issues I asked about before buying my house was about those vehicle restrictions (and a few other restrictions). I know a few people who are not allowed to park their car in the driveway, wash their car in the driveway or have guests park in their driveway. I see a potential problem when a family gets together for christmas. They actually tow vehicles and impose fines. A lien is next for non compliance. At least motorcycles weren't banned. I've been trying to convince the schmucks to buy one since they are allowed. And with LOUD pipes!!! Enough of that: I urge everyone to become involved in their home owners association, apartment complex association or whatever else you might call it, in some way no matter how minimal. At least go to the meetings. They might try to change the rules you live by right under your nose. This is the best way to protect your rights and freedoms. A freedom not exercised or fought for is a freedom that can be taken away. |

Freewaystreak: Partner, you are in the WAY WRONG place, if it's sympathy you seek. As the former owner of 6 Buell Motorcycles, I have worse news.....the maladay is more likely to escalate than abate. The shining part of this is that Aaron, Henrik, Bantz, Jim in SB, I and a host of others know, already, what your NEXT Buell is going to be. At first, like a bug bite, it's just a scratch, but then it becomes a DISEASE! Welcome and congratulations. Let me know if I need to write your wife a letter on the restorative effects of multiple Buells. Ride safe and enjoy ALL your Buells, Court (the shipping department today) |

Thank God I own a house because Homeowner's Associations are crap. I had to terminate my relationship with my 3 boas when I lived in Miami Beach, because they thought I was a satan worshiper and rules in the town only allow cats and dogs as pets. Just as you are not supposed to have a "minimum charge" for using credit cards because it is unfair to "poor" people, I would argue the concept that not everyone can afford a car. Total BS. |

Right on. I can afford a car...just not to drive it. Anyway, my girl and a neighbor of hers are stressing my situation a lot more than I am. I think the Buell would look great parked in the kitchen . If I brought my Camaro down these people would still be sorry...that thing is just as raucious as the Buell. These rules are rediculous. On a good note my parts came in and the Buell is back together again. Once the header is welded she'll be good as new. |

Anyone know of a Muffler to fit the X1 Race kit header? Race Kit muffler is too massive (both in weight and looks). Any thoughts? Thanks |

And the problem with my S3 was..........Drum roll please..paddadittlepaddadittlepaddadittlepaddadittlepaddadittlepaddadittlepaddadittle The ECM connector worked its way loose! That's it. I feel like such a putz. I did the "wiggle test" on the wiring harness to no avail before bringing it to the dealer. Oh well. For 30 bucks I got back a well detailed bike that ran. Later, S.C. |

The tank masks are cool, but those intakes look ridiculous. All that bike needs is wings. I haven't seen masks like that stateside. Buell masks are available in the same style, but without the storage pocket. Nc, a stainless 4" automotive SuperTrapp works well. You may have to fabricate rear mount brackets, though. It's tough, small, light, and tuneable. |
