ok.. after the 900 mile round trip to homecoming last week.. ive come to realize that my 6'3 240lb frame just doesn't like the stock bars on my 12Ss anymore...

i talked to AL from american sortbike and he and a few others agree that the crossroads are the way to go on the Lightning!!

well, im going to go with that option, BUT... i also like the look of the Firebolt clip ons. I know the triple needs to be changed to but it looks to be a more forward motion..

what i need i guess is the comfort and riding style comparison between the two..

i know the firebolt clipons will put me forward.... BUT I NEED TO HTFU FOR MY 1125R!!!!

Space out the housing put on some clip ons like I did...

Cost was cheaper than the crossroads I had before these...

See the sweep difference...

I'm 6'2" and around 260ish with big long ass knuckle dragging arms..

On the long rides I find my self hunching and my spine not being straight which can cause all kind of issues.

The crossroads helped on the bad side for me the steering wasn't the way I liked..

Now I couldn't be happier.. My back hasn't hurt since doing this mod.. Bike is crazy planted..

BTW, how is your turning raduis on those? Do they hit the frame pucks?

also, you got the 54mm, how big are the stock bars?

Nah They don't touch, a bit more room than a Firebolt with pucks

54mm is the top of your fork & and your bars are 7/8 a pretty universal size..

LSL OFFSET MATCH, Clipons..

I'm 6'2" and I have the zero degree and love them. Also lets just say I'm not a light weight.

We literally just got done getting the crossroads zero degree bars on cityX 2.0 and I love them. Install wasn't too bad either, took about 2 hrs start to finish. The worrisome throttle cables didn't take much adjusting to get them working right. The clutch was a little bit more of a pain actually because my adjusters are rusty. It's gonna need it's 10k service in 900 miles so I think I'll do the clutch cable then.

When I started Nutrisystem had to make the same transition from regular to diet. Now I only drink 1 20oz diet when I first get to work, water the rest of the time.

Bear in mind that with clipons, you have far less (actually, none at all) adjustability in terms of forward angle of your bars, you'll be stuck with the fwd. angle despite your new-found flexibility in concentric/eccentric radius.
I changed from an S2 to an S3 front end on my S2 after a few months, solely to effect adjustability for the long-ass (incl. many coast-to-coast) i was doing on that scoot.
There is a huge loss of adjustability when you change to clipons, unless they're articulated.

Tramp,

That S3 front end had 48,000 miles on it when you got it... if that's the one you got from Jim Wilson. Horse was a good ol' S3 but nobody wanted her complete so I parted her out for more money that she'd bring as a running bike. BTW way the Lightnin' motor that came out of her is still for sale. FYI

Yep- the scoot I rec'd from Jimmy was beautiful, complete and very stock, I believe he'd put it together from two, if not 3, scoots- it has an S&S mill (!).
He had several S1s, S2s and S3s, at the shop- he soon got all of the regulars off of BMWs/HDs and onto Buells...
He rode a psychotic S1 (again, S&S mill, as he had a sweet deal going with them) with his trademark Moon eyes on the tank, hence his nickname "Moonwillie"

I really don't know what became of him, I do know ςhe'd moved out west at some point.

I may be interested in that engine, if it's a good deal...I can always use it in my S2T while I rebuild that one, as I soon should...

Is the front end from my S2 still on the land-speed record holder?

Your front end still leads Aaron's NRHS RR/S2 down the salt. I'll be there in person again this year to watch it run.

Not sure if you'd call 12 bones a good deal. That's what I sold it for. The widow Winton may be willing to take less but not sure how much. Ping your best offer and I'll pass it on to her. I'll be in R'town(Rutherfordton, NC) this weekend where the motor is currently occupying a bench-top.

You did order new grips too right?

The routing is pretty easy to get by following the directions and pics. getting the throttle cables adjusted right is the trick. Best I can tell there is no real rhyme or reason as to what each one needs to be set at, it's all trial and error til it quits hangin up and snaps shut.
