Rt-112 from Huntington to Rt-2 in Shelburne Falls. Then Rt-2 west all the way to Williamstown. Then Rt-7 south to Rt-2 west it NY. Then Rt-22 south. Then take Rt-71 east to Rt-23 into Great Barrington. Follow Rt-23 all the way back to Rt-20 at the Westfield-Russell line. This one route will give you a small taste of whats around. A suggestion would be to stop at a bicycle shop and get one of the maps they sell for cyclists of western Mass. They are very detailed and also show alot of dirt roads you wont find on regular maps. |

Not sure how far North you want to go, but Vt. 17 is a great ride. We've also got some great roads up here in central and northern NH. NH 112 (Kancamagus Hwy) if it's not a weekend, NH 118 between 112 and 25 is pretty sweet as well. Hurricane Mt. Rd. from Kearsarge to Chatham NH and then on to ME 113 is a ride you won't forget. Mt. Washington Auto Road is another. Vt. 102 up near the CDN border. I could go on, but I've got to go out and ride now |

Thanks folks-I am sure looking forward to this trip. Seems like I have gone cross country, spent a week in the North West and also a week in Colorada/Wyoming and also run up to Nova Scocia but I have never gotten to spend dedicated time in the North East. Last several years a week here and there in WVa or Tenn or long weekends down the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway. |
