I did the track day at blackhawk and now I'm hooked. Is there a website or something that gives dates for track days? I live in central pa. The closest track is beaver run but I cant find their website. Any info for my new found addiction would be great. chris |

After doing some more reviewing, I see that the track days are held certain organizations, like NESBA, and Absolute Cycle, etc... Do you have to be a member of these groups to participate in the track day or can you show up at the track the day of the event and ride? |

generally you need to be a member. The northeast sites: sportbiketracktime.com nesba.com teampromotion.com TPM is the closest to a no-membership setup, but you'll end up paying for it anyway. I've ridden with all three, they're all okay. Don't ever do a pocono event with TPM on a weekend, or anywhere you see "four groups", you'll spend a lot of time sitting. Check your engine oil before you get on the track, and bring extra. The track vendors will most likely NOT have HD oil. Bleed your front brakes with good racing brake fluid, and keep it fresh. I've boiled it from moisture, no lever when you're expecting brakes makes for interesting off-track excursions. You may want to consider new pads too. Also, check your exhaust studs. I've lost the nuts at the track, it sucks. If you haven't noticed already, prepare for the GSXR pass: wide open in a straight line, parks in corners. Depending on your group (beginner, interm, or expert) the passing groups can make the infied repass difficult. If that happens, pit in, pause, and go back out on open track. Welcome to the problem! |

So lets say I buy a membership from the 3 listed above, then I can go to the track and pay to do the track day or does the membership cover the cost of the track day event? Or do I register for the track day on the website of the 3 listed above? I'm really interested in this. At blackhawk I really had a blast and plan on doing a lot of track days, but i dont know what memberships should be joined and how to register to do the track day. Thanks for all your help. You guys are the best. chris |

usually, you join a track club like STT or NESBA and then you pay for each date that you attend. some tracks have motorcycle lapping days that don't require a club membership and in our case here in Louisiana we have a trackday organization tigertrackdays.com and you can buy a 14 event season pass or pay each date separately. inside pass is the best deal going for trackdays from Buell. welcome to the addiction. ride safe, tim |

http://www.nelsonledges.com/ http://www.fasttraxlive.com/ Not to far from Beaver and they are a great group of people. They have a Advanced Street Riding School that I highly recommend. Its the first step in getting your racing license..... Then you start to spend the big money... They even offer a "Thunder Bike" race on Sunday if enough Buells show up. |

If you can get a copy of (or a subscription to) "Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology" magazine, you will find a huge list of clubs. They list trackday clubs, racing clubs, and racing schools. They also post the dates that each organization is operating at each track. Once a year they have what they call a "Trackday Directory" wich covers all of the afore mentioned topics as well as bike & rider preperation. I'm almost certain that you can get the 2008 Trackday Directory on their website. No I'm not affiliated with them in any way other than being a very long time subscriber. |

If you join NESBA, you pay for your trackdays over the net, in advance. You don't need to go to any track websites. TPM and Sportbiketracktime work the same way, but (IMHO) SPTT has the worst site. TPM charges you for each trackday according to the membership package you buy. I've never bought anything but the base model since I ride with all three groups. The cost of the trackday is NOT included in the typical membership; the memberships are ususally around 75 bucks but the trackdays are usually between 150 and 200 (depending on the track). |

Don't know exactly where in PA you are, but in October there's an Inside Pass day at the new track in Millville, NJ. (We're one of the sponsors.) You can find out more about Inside Pass at http://www.buell.com/en_us/news_events/insidepass/ index.asp ->ChelleM |

Welcome to the addiction! (It *is* like crack) Your bank account is in for a future of hurt. The coaching staff that day was from Sportbike Track Time, and is a good org to do your first days with, as at a "regular" STT day, the Novice group is very structured with lots of classroom instruction. NESBA is a great org with good control riders too. Sign up in advance on the website, since events often sell out. You can sometimes squeeze in onsite if there are no shows, but don't count on it. STT membership is $35 or $40 if your a female (STT has Femmoto, and women get to ride most tracks for $125) and most events are $150-$200 for each day. You get free lunches and discounts on tires and gear. Glad you had fun! |

That must be the one that OdinBueller is going to also. The track is supposed to be really nice, but I haven't been there yet. The tracks are named Thunderbolt and Lightning, right? Weird coincidence. ->ChelleM |

thanks for all the info. I know my pocket is going to hurt, but better than blowing it on actual crack. Jerseyguy, aug.4th huh? hmmmm, sounds like fun. I'm going to join nesba, because they have more runs a beaverun judging by the events page. Mark, I've already been looking for a salvaged XB12R to turn into a track bike. Man this stuff is awesome! |
