I took my bike to my local H-D/Buell Dealer on Saturday. I have two error codes one which includes the front O2 sensor. When they plugged my ecm into their computer they could find no historic codes but they show up when you use the diagnostic mode on the bike. The error code comes up about every time I ride the bike. Is it hard on the bike to run it with this potential problem?

I have gotten the front O2 P code before on several occasions, mostly when riding in the mountains, 6-7000 ft. range. Im just riding it, and only really paying attention to the code if the engine light stays on continuously. The code will eventually drop off the history in DM.

From previous discussions, error codes are stored and should not clear for 50 start cycles.

The fact that you can see them in diagnostic mode should indicate they are in fact stored. Your dealer should be able to see them if they are properly connecting to the ECM.

I'd suggest contacting Buell Customer services:

To speak with a Buell customer service representative call 414-343-8400.

Next time you take it to the shop and the codes are present, have them connected to there Digital Tech II. If the codes don't show up on the computer which I have seen before, if they hit clear historic codes anyway it should clear them from your cluster. If they keep coming back after they are cleared it is a problem that needs to be fixed. ie sensor, wire or connector. You will not do any damage if you ride it just make it get taken care of.
