i didnt see anything posted here about this so maybe i missed it somewhere while i was gone to homecoming, but i did see a quick mention of it in the headlight discussion on courts section. there is a service bulletin out for 2003-2006 firebolts. built before a certain date they are replacing high and low beam assemblys. definatly worth a call to the dealer. they may not know yet since i just saw this thing today, but it has been out for a few days now. |

I predict this thread getting it's fair share of traffic. Edit Australian Dealers can access the recall via bike VIN for parts order and repairs. Nice work. (Message edited by starter on July 07, 2008) |

there is a service bulletin out for 2003-2006 firebolts. built before a certain date This only says to me that they are replacing units that have substantial use/wear time. I just put a new reflector in my bike. Still chrome plated plastic. If they are actually fixing the issue (changing design), I'd expect that they would replace all years, period. (Prove me wrong please) |

Has anyone got the replacement yet? I'm curious to see if it's the same. Seems odd to do a recall with the same part, that wouldn't solve anything. |

Im planning on having this done soon. On a ride I went on Sunday, I was told my headlight barely looked lit . |

Yeah, my lowbeam looks like a flashlight whose battery is on the way out. >.< |

i didnt understand the point either from what i was reading. it says up to a certain build date in 05. well from what ive seen the headlights are still the same on the 08's. so why bother replacing them with the same thing? i could easily be wrong. seems like it would be a waste of money for buell if it isnt a permanent fix, as in a metal reflector or something similar. i have not seen the replacement ones though so who knows for sure yet. now i just have to decide if i want to get rid of my 2 highbeam set up that is on the bike now. |

Normally the TSB will specifically state to use a new part number with special marking, etc. It is not normal to replace bad parts with the same part. If no new part number is specified, it is unusual. |

what year did they change the (glass/plastic?) lens of the headlights to include that diffusing spot in the middle? that's the only substantial change I've seen in them (I have one) other than that the spoon in the low beam is wider. |

just checked some things. the part numbers for the new lights are different. they arent even the same as the 08 stuff for that matter. |

I hope shiny tape doesn't void a recall. Gotta call those guys and get them to find out how it works. It would be so nice to have at least one somebody flash their lights at me for running my brights all the time. And not having to come home on the interstate at night so you can see! Riding WITHOUT moonlight! Actually seeing the OTHER end of that curve, or the cow or firewood or pedestrian. This is exciting! |

No... Riding with the STOCK headlights is exciting . Really... I have to keep my bike below about 25-30 miles an hour if I'm relying on my own lights. It just gets a little scary after that... |

now see, i am one of the odd ones. my lights have never really bothered me. i even have a dark smoked shield on my helmet 24/7. the only reason i ever changed them is because i lost a lens and had i high beam laying around |

No_rice What you got? Long feelers? Sonar? Some kind of exceptional feelings? Or just blind luck? Or have some lights really performed as they should? |

That's nice to know. The people at Customer Service didn't know there was an issue 10 days ago let alone a service bulletin. I got lucky and the dealer had one on the shelf that was dated 12/12/2002 on the box. Some one should tell them of this new development. |

So if I have three XBR's, 2003,2003,2005. Should I expect to get six headlamps that are new and improved ? |

Called my local dealer, they hadnt heard of the recall yet. Service manager is going to be in tomorrow, recommended I give them a call and talk to him directly. If he doesnt know anything about it yet, Im going to give him the recall numbers to see what he can find out, and get done what needs to get done |

No_rice What you got? Long feelers? Sonar? Some kind of exceptional feelings? Nah...he's just fast, the light takes a while to catch up with him, so he's used to riding in the dark... |

My VIN doesn't show that I need that, but I have an '06 firebolt with what seems like a firefly in a bottle. I'm sure I need it but do I have to wait untill the stealerships get on the wagon or what. |

Called up Bumpus today and they have gotten a notice about the recall. Said they are just awaiting the parts to come in. They took my name and # down as well to give me a call as soon as they get them in, so Im all setup to get the new headlights! I wonder if they look any different... |

I stopped in at my dealer today to check on the recall. They had the bulletin sitting on top of the counter and had just received it. He said that the bulletin indicated that kits would start shipping next week to dealers. The kit is both head lamp assemblies. |

I'll be popping into a local dealer today on my XT to see about a reflash and to ask about this. ...anyone want to bet they give me cow eyes when I mention it? |
