So should I accept that the fact our exhausts are going to rust and there is nothing we can do about it aside from pulling it off, and sanding/wire brushing/striping and painting all the time if we don't want our bikes to look like crap. My headers even look pretty crappy, not just the blueing kind of discoloration, lots irregular brown spots. Bike is an 07 I got new in September, about 7300 miles. Has anyone had luck getting it replaced under warranty? I think I read on here somewhere did and was able to get a new stock or credit towards an aftermarket exhaust? that'd be cool, sounds odd. If I could do that I wonder if I could buy the rusty muffler back from that for some cutting ...Anyways, I don't see pulling rusty parts off my bike to paint them 9 or 10 months after buying it, when i'm financing it and it's under warranty...bull$h1t. what have the rest of you done? |

you can get ceramic coated headers. some have polished their pipes. as for the muffler, you could get it ceramic coated as well. |

I've considered that as an option, but cash is low...and I just don't see why I should pay extra not to have a crappy looking exhaust on my still new bike. |

The muffler is paint. If it was under your car it wouldn't look any different. It gets hit by fine gravel and the like. Its going to get that way no matter what you do over time. If you were riding R6,CBR or a ninja it would be incased in plastic body work and get grimey as well but you wouldn't see it so you may never even care. |

No, if you were riding an R6, CBR or a Ninja you would have a STAINLESS steel, aluminum or titanium muffler, none of which would rust out like the metal Buell uses on their mufflers!!!! The only PERMANENT solution is to spring for BIG BUCKS to buy one of the Euro-legal stainless exhausts from Trojan because all of the mufflers sold aftermarket in the US are too damned loud. |

I polished my headers and must say...they look pretty damn good. Turned a really nice shiny gold color. |

Ceramic coating the muffler is a cheap option to keep it from rusting. I think I paid $55. You can also ceramic coat the headers, but that is a more expensive operation.
