How much would it cost to change the firebolt front fairing to the dual lights and flyscreen of the S model? I would probably leave the tail section alone. Would I need a new dash/gauge cluster? Could I sell the firebolt setup or is there no demand for it? Thanks. |

Since your electronics are in the fairing, it'd be really difficult to do. Not a simple swap. |

Glitch is right, From everything I have read (including the service manuals) the S to R swap is much easier then the R to S. What is it thats appealing about the switch? Looks? Bar height? if its the latter you could always put a set of Heli-bars (I believe) on and go to standard handle bars instead of clip-ons |

Hey moose what year is your bike? I've got an 05 xb9sx been thinking about switching front end to an R would you be interested in trade? Does anyone know if we can do this? What is needed? |

It has been done here before (people traded) I think for the most part its fairing stays, headlight, bars, upper triple tree, brake and clutch lines, wire harness, and plastics. the gauge/dash is the same except for the inner print that tells you what model it is, but that can be taken apart and swapped also. |

I don't have a bike yet, but I like the look of the S. There seems to be an abnormal amount of R's around me, so I thought it might be a viable option. |

If you want an S, then keep looking for an S. As Glitch mentioned, the electronics on the bikes are located in different places (under the seat on an S, in the fairing on an R), so unless you want mess with changing the wiring harness, I would shy away from this option. More hassle than it's worth. The time and money needed to make this swap would be better spent on driving a little further away to find the bike you really wanted in the first place. |

Lol, just get an R and trade/buy a S tail (that's my plan, 12RScg) -- you know this got me wondering what kind of headlights you could run with that big empty space if you kept/moved (depending on your model) the electronics in the tail...hrrrm, actually, do you know what would be cool? Converting the front faring to a storage space. I smell a winter project for me and Fenris. (Message edited by retrittion on July 03, 2008) |
